Version
Psalm 33:12-22

12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord
the people he has chosen to be his own possession!(A)

13 The Lord looks down from heaven;
he observes everyone.(B)
14 He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth
from his dwelling place.(C)
15 He forms the hearts of them all;
he considers all their works.(D)
16 A king is not saved by a large army;
a warrior will not be rescued by great strength.(E)
17 The horse is a false hope for safety;
it provides no escape by its great power.(F)

18 But look, the Lord keeps his eye on those who fear him—
those who depend on his faithful love(G)
19 to rescue them from death
and to keep them alive in famine.(H)

20 We wait for the Lord;(I)
he is our help and shield.(J)
21 For our hearts rejoice in him(K)
because we trust in his holy name.(L)
22 May your faithful love rest on us, Lord,
for we put our hope in you.(M)

Exodus 15:6-11

Lord, your right hand is glorious in power.
Lord, your right hand shattered the enemy.(A)
You overthrew your adversaries
by your great majesty.
You unleashed your burning wrath;
it consumed them like stubble.(B)
The water heaped up(C) at the blast from your nostrils;
the currents stood firm like a dam.
The watery depths congealed in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said:
“I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil.(D)
My desire will be gratified at their expense.
I will draw my sword;
my hand will destroy[a] them.”
10 But you blew with your breath,
and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead
in the mighty waters.

11 Lord, who is like you among the gods?
Who is like you, glorious in holiness,(E)
revered with praises, performing wonders?(F)

John 7:37-39

The Promise of the Spirit

37 On the last and most important day of the festival,(A) Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me[a](B) and drink.(C) 38 The one who believes in me,(D) as the Scripture(E) has said, will have streams of living water(F) flow(G) from deep within him.” 39 He said this about the Spirit.(H) Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit,(I) for the Spirit[b] had not yet been given[c] because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
