Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 150
Praise the Lord
1 Hallelujah!
Praise God in his sanctuary.
Praise him in his mighty expanse.(A)
2 Praise him for his powerful acts;(B)
praise him for his abundant greatness.(C)
3 Praise him with the blast of a ram’s horn;(D)
praise him with harp and lyre.(E)
4 Praise him with tambourine and dance;(F)
praise him with strings and flute.(G)
5 Praise him with resounding cymbals;
praise him with clashing cymbals.(H)
6 Let everything that breathes praise the Lord.(I)
Hallelujah!
15 I will depart and return to my place
until they recognize their guilt and seek my face;(A)
they will search for me in their distress.(B)
A Call to Repentance
6 Come, let’s return to the Lord.(C)
For he has torn us,(D)
and he will heal us;(E)
he has wounded us,
and he will bind up our wounds.(F)
2 He will revive us after two days,(G)
and on the third day he will raise us up
so we can live in his presence.(H)
3 Let’s strive to know the Lord.(I)
His appearance is as sure as the dawn.(J)
He will come to us like the rain,(K)
like the spring showers that water the land.
The Lord’s First Lament
4 What am I going to do with you, Ephraim?(L)
What am I going to do with you, Judah?
Your love is like the morning mist(M)
and like the early dew that vanishes.
5 This is why I have used the prophets
to cut them down;[a](N)
I have killed them with the words from my mouth.
My judgment strikes like lightning.[b]
6 For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice,
the knowledge of God(O) rather than burnt offerings.(P)
Greeting
1 The elder:
To the elect(A) lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not only I, but also all who know the truth(B)— 2 because of the truth that remains in us(C) and will be with us forever.
3 Grace, mercy, and peace(D) will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son(E) of the Father, in truth and love.(F)
Truth and Deception
4 I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth,(G) in keeping with a command we have received from the Father. 5 So now I ask you, dear lady—not as if I were writing you a new command, but one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.(H) 6 This is love:(I) that we walk according to his commands.(J) This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: that you walk in love.[a]
