Psalm 118

Thanksgiving for Victory

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his faithful love endures forever.(A)
Let Israel say,
“His faithful love endures forever.”(B)

Psalm 118:14-24

14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.(A)

15 There are shouts of joy and victory
in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand performs valiantly!(B)
16 The Lord’s right hand is raised.
The Lord’s right hand performs valiantly!” (C)
17 I will not die, but I will live
and proclaim what the Lord has done.(D)
18 The Lord disciplined me severely
but did not give me over to death.(E)

19 Open the gates of righteousness for me;
I will enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord.(F)
20 This is the Lord’s gate;
the righteous will enter through it.(G)
21 I will give thanks to you
because you have answered me
and have become my salvation.(H)
22 The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.(I)
23 This came from the Lord;
it is wondrous in our sight.(J)
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
let’s rejoice and be glad in it.(K)

Genesis 1:20-2:4

20 Then God said, “Let the water swarm with[a] living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” 21 So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water,(A) according to their kinds. He also created every winged creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them: “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”(B) 23 Evening came and then morning: the fifth day.

24 Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let us(C) make man[b] in[c] our image, according to our likeness.(D) They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl[d] on the earth.”(E)

27 So God created man
in his own image;
he created him in the image of God;
he created them male and female.(F)

28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth,(G) and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.” 29 God also said, “Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This will be food for you,(H) 30 for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth—everything having the breath of life in it—I have given[e] every green plant for food.”(I) And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good indeed.(J) Evening came and then morning: the sixth day.

So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed.(K) On the seventh[f] day God had completed his work that he had done, and he rested[g] on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.(L) God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it he rested(M) from all his work of creation.(N)

Man and Woman in the Garden

These are the records(O) of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation. At the time[h] that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,

1 Corinthians 15:50-58

Victorious Resurrection

50 What I am saying, brothers and sisters, is this: Flesh(A) and blood(B) cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor can corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.(C) For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. 53 For this corruptible body must be clothed(D) with incorruptibility,(E) and this mortal body must be clothed with immortality. 54 When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:

Death has been swallowed up(F) in victory.[a](G)
55 Where, death, is your victory?
Where, death, is your sting?[b](H)

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin(I) is the law.(J) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory(K) through our Lord Jesus Christ!

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work,(L) because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
