Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Passover Lamb
12 Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of [a]Egypt, 2 “(A)This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a [b]lamb for themselves, according to their fathers’ households, a [c]lamb for [d]each household. 4 Now if the household is too small for a [e]lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the [f]number of persons in them; according to [g]what each man should eat, you are to [h]divide the lamb.
5 Your [a]lamb shall be (A)an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 [b]You shall keep it until the (B)fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it [c](C)at twilight. 7 (D)Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel [d]of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh (E)that same night, (F)roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with (G)unleavened bread [e](H)and bitter herbs. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water, but rather (I)roasted with fire, both its head and its legs along with (J)its entrails. 10 (K)And you shall not leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left of it until morning, you shall burn with fire.
11 Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste—it is (A)the Lord’s Passover. 12 For (B)I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and (C)against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments—(D)I am the Lord. 13 (E)The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you [a]live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you [b]to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Feast of Unleavened Bread
14 ‘Now (F)this day will be (G)a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as [c](H)a permanent ordinance.
12 What shall I (A)render to the Lord
For all His (B)benefits [a]toward me?
13 I shall lift up the (C)cup of salvation
And (D)call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I shall (E)pay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be (F)in the presence of all His people.
15 (G)Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His godly ones.
16 O Lord, [b]surely I am (H)Your servant,
I am Your servant, the (I)son of Your handmaid,
You have (J)loosed my bonds.
17 To You I shall offer (K)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And (L)call upon the name of the Lord.
18 I shall (M)pay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (N)courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O (O)Jerusalem.
[c]Praise [d]the Lord!
The Lord’s Supper
23 For (A)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that (B)the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took (C)the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the (D)new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death (E)until He comes.
The Lord’s Supper
13 Now before the Feast of (A)the Passover, Jesus knowing that (B)His hour had come that He would depart out of this world (C)to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them [a]to the end. 2 During supper, (D)the devil having already put into the heart of (E)Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, (F)knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that (G)He had come forth from God and was going back to God, 4 *got up from supper, and *laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He (H)girded Himself.
Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet
5 Then He *poured water into the basin, and began to (I)wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 So He *came to Simon Peter. He *said to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand (J)hereafter.” 8 Peter *said to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “(K)If I do not wash you, (L)you have no part with Me.” 9 Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.” 10 Jesus *said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and (M)you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For (N)He knew the one who was betraying Him; for this reason He said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12 So when He had washed their feet, and (O)taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me (P)Teacher and (Q)Lord; and [b]you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, (R)the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I gave you (S)an example that you also should do as I did to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, (T)a slave is not greater than his master, nor is (U)one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you are (V)blessed if you do them.
31 Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus *said, “Now [a]is (A)the Son of Man (B)glorified, and (C)God [b]is glorified in Him; 32 [c]if God is glorified in Him, (D)God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. 33 (E)Little children, I am with you (F)a little while longer. (G)You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 A (H)new commandment I give to you, (I)that you love one another, (J)even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 (K)By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
