Psalm 105:1-11

Psalm 105

O give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His name, make known His doings among the peoples!

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His marvelous deeds and devoutly praise them.

Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek and require the Lord [as their indispensable necessity].

Seek, inquire of and for the Lord, and crave Him and His strength (His might and inflexibility to temptation); seek and require His face and His presence [continually] evermore.

[Earnestly] remember the marvelous deeds that He has done, His miracles and wonders, the judgments and sentences which He pronounced [upon His enemies, as in Egypt].(A)

O you offspring of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones,

He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

He is [earnestly] mindful of His covenant and forever it is imprinted on His heart, the word which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His sworn promise to Isaac,(B)

10 Which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

11 Saying, Unto you will I give the land of Canaan as your measured portion, possession, and inheritance.

Psalm 105:37-45

37 He brought [Israel] forth also with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.(A)

38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon the people.(B)

39 The Lord spread a cloud for a covering [by day], and a fire to give light in the night.(C)

40 [The Israelites] asked, and He brought quails and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.(D)

41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.(E)

42 For He [earnestly] remembered His holy word and promise to Abraham His servant.(F)

43 And He brought forth His people with joy, and His chosen ones with gladness and singing,

44 And gave them the lands of the nations [of Canaan], and they reaped the fruits of those peoples’ labor,(G)

45 That they might observe His statutes and keep His laws [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them]. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

Genesis 21:1-7

21 The Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for her as He had promised.

For Sarah became pregnant and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time God had told him.

Abraham [a]named his son whom Sarah bore to him Isaac [laughter].

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born.

And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh; all who hear will laugh with me.

And she said, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children at the breast? For I have borne him a son in his old age!(A)

Hebrews 1:8-12

But as to the Son, He says to Him, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever (to the ages of the ages), and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of absolute righteousness (of justice and straightforwardness).

You have loved righteousness [You have delighted in integrity, virtue, and uprightness in purpose, thought, and action] and You have hated lawlessness (injustice and iniquity). Therefore God, [even] Your God ([a]Godhead), has anointed You with the oil of exultant joy and gladness above and beyond Your companions.(A)

10 And [further], You, Lord, did lay the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the works of Your hands.

11 They will perish, but You remain and continue permanently; they will all grow old and wear out like a garment.

12 Like a mantle [thrown about one’s self] You will roll them up, and they will be changed and replaced by others. But You remain the same, and Your years will never end nor come to failure.(B)
