Version
Psalm 102:12-28

12 But you, Lord, are enthroned forever;(A)
your fame endures to all generations.(B)
13 You will rise up and have compassion on Zion,
for it is time to show favor to her—
the appointed time has come.(C)
14 For your servants take delight in its stones
and favor its dust.(D)

15 Then the nations will fear the name of the Lord,
and all the kings of the earth your glory,(E)
16 for the Lord will rebuild Zion;
he will appear in his glory.(F)
17 He will pay attention to the prayer of the destitute
and will not despise their prayer.(G)

18 This will be written for a later generation,
and a people who have not yet been created will praise the Lord:(H)
19 He looked down from his holy heights—
the Lord gazed out from heaven to earth(I)
20 to hear a prisoner’s groaning,
to set free those condemned to die,[a](J)
21 so that they might declare
the name of the Lord in Zion
and his praise in Jerusalem(K)
22 when peoples and kingdoms are assembled
to serve the Lord.(L)

23 He has broken my[b] strength in midcourse;
he has shortened my days.(M)
24 I say, “My God, do not take me
in the middle of my life![c]
Your years continue through all generations.(N)
25 Long ago you established the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.(O)
26 They will perish, but you will endure;
all of them will wear out like clothing.
You will change them like a garment,
and they will pass away.(P)
27 But you are the same,
and your years will never end.(Q)
28 Your servants’ children will dwell securely,
and their offspring will be established before you.”(R)

2 Kings 4:8-17

The Shunammite Woman’s Hospitality

One day Elisha went to Shunem.(A) A prominent woman who lived there persuaded him to eat some food. So whenever he passed by, he stopped there to eat.(B) Then she said to her husband, “I know that the one who often passes by here is a holy man of God, 10 so let’s make a small, walled-in upper room and put a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp there for him. Whenever he comes, he can stay there.”(C)

The Shunammite Woman’s Son

11 One day he came there and stopped at the upstairs room to lie down. 12 He ordered his attendant Gehazi,(D) “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her and she stood before him.

13 Then he said to Gehazi, “Say to her, ‘Look, you’ve gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you?(E) Can we speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’”

She answered, “I am living among my own people.”

14 So he asked, “Then what should be done for her?”

Gehazi answered, “Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.”

15 “Call her,” Elisha said. So Gehazi called her, and she stood in the doorway. 16 Elisha said, “At this time next year you will have a son in your arms.”(F)

Then she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your servant.”(G)

17 The woman conceived and gave birth to a son at the same time the following year, as Elisha had promised her.

2 Kings 4:32-37

32 When Elisha got to the house, he discovered the boy lying dead on his bed.(A) 33 So he went in, closed the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord.(B) 34 Then he went up and lay on the boy:(C) he put mouth to mouth, eye to eye, hand to hand. While he bent down over him, the boy’s flesh became warm.(D) 35 Elisha got up, went into the house, and paced back and forth. Then he went up and bent down over him again. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.(E)

36 Elisha called Gehazi and said, “Call the Shunammite woman.” He called her and she came. Then Elisha said, “Pick up your son.” 37 She came, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; she picked up her son and left.(F)

Acts 14:1-7

Growth and Persecution in Iconium

14 In Iconium they entered the Jewish synagogue, as usual, and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed.(A) But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.(B) So they stayed there a long time and spoke boldly for the Lord, who testified to the message of his grace by enabling them to do signs and wonders.(C) But the people of the city were divided, some siding with the Jews and others with the apostles.(D) When an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to mistreat and stone them, they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian towns of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding countryside.(E) There they continued preaching the gospel.(F)
