² The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem;^(B)
He gathers Israel’s exiled people.^(C)
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.^(D)
4 He counts the number of the stars;
He gives names to all of them.^(E)
5 Our Lord is great, vast in power;
His understanding is infinite.^[a](F)
6 The Lord helps the afflicted
but brings the wicked to the ground.^(G)

⁷ Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
play the lyre to our God,^(H)
8 who covers the sky with clouds,
prepares rain for the earth,
and causes grass to grow on the hills.^(I)
9 He provides the animals with their food,
and the young ravens, what they cry for.^(J)

¹⁰ He is not impressed by the strength of a horse;
He does not value the power^[b] of a man.^(K)
11 The Lord values those who fear Him,
those who put their hope in His faithful love.^(L)

¹⁰ A righteous man cares about his animal’s health,^(A)
but even the merciful acts of the wicked are cruel.

¹¹ The one who works his land will have plenty of food,^(B)
but whoever chases fantasies lacks sense.^(C)

¹² The wicked desire what evil men have,^[a]
but the root of the righteous produces fruit.

¹³ An evil man is trapped by his rebellious speech,^(D)
but a righteous one escapes from trouble.^(E)

¹⁴ A man will be satisfied with good
by the words of his mouth,^(F)
and the work of a man’s hands will reward him.^(G)

¹⁵ A fool’s way is right in his own eyes,^(H)
but whoever listens to counsel is wise.

¹⁶ A fool’s displeasure is known at once,
but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.^(I)

¹⁷ Whoever speaks the truth declares what is right,
but a false witness, deceit.^(J)

¹⁸ There is one who speaks rashly,
like a piercing sword;^(K)
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.^(L)

¹⁹ Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue, only a moment.^(M)

²⁰ Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but those who promote peace have joy.^(N)

²¹ No disaster overcomes the righteous,^(O)
but the wicked are full of misery.
