Version
Psalm 62:5-12

I ·find rest [wait quietly] in God;
    ·only he gives me hope [L for my hope is in him].
He is my rock [61:2] and my ·salvation [victory].
    He is my ·defender [fortress];
    I will not be ·defeated [shaken].
My ·honor [glory] and ·salvation [victory] come from God.
    He is my ·mighty [strong] rock and my ·protection [refuge].

People, ·trust [have confidence in] God all the time.
    ·Tell him all your problems [L Pour out your heart before him],
because God is our ·protection [refuge]. ·Selah [Interlude]

The least of people are only a ·breath [vapor; bubble; vanity],
    and even the greatest are just a ·lie [delusion].
On the scales, they ·weigh nothing [L go up];
    together they are only a ·breath [vapor; bubble; vanity].
10 Do not ·trust [have confidence] in ·force [oppression; extortion].
    Stealing is ·of no use [meaningless].
Even if you gain more riches,
    don’t ·put your trust in [L set your heart on] them.

11 God has said this once,
    and I have heard it ·over and over [L twice]:
    God is strong.
12 The Lord is ·loving [loyal].
    You ·reward [repay] people for what they have done [1 Pet. 1:17; Rev. 20:12–13; 22:12].

Jeremiah 20:14-18

Jeremiah’s Sixth Complaint

14 ·Let there be a curse on [Cursed be] the day I was born;
    let there be no blessing on the day when my mother gave birth to me.
15 ·Let there be a curse on [Cursed be] the man
    who brought my father the news:
“You have a son!”
    This made my father very glad.
16 Let that man be like the towns
    the Lord ·destroyed [overturned] without ·pity [mercy; Gen. 18].
Let him hear loud crying in the morning
    and battle cries at noon,
17 because he did not kill me ·before I was born [L in the womb; 1:5].
    Then my mother would have been my grave;
    she would have stayed pregnant forever.
18 Why did I have to come out of ·my mother’s body [the womb]?
    All I have known is trouble and sorrow,
    and my ·life [days] will end in ·shame [humiliation; Job 3].

Luke 10:13-16

Jesus Warns Unbelievers(A)

13 “·How terrible for [L Woe to] you, Korazin! ·How terrible for [L Woe to] you, Bethsaida [C towns in Galilee where Jesus ministered]! If the ·miracles [powerful deeds] ·I did [L that occurred] in you had happened in Tyre and Sidon [C cities in Phoenicia notorious for their wickedness], those people would have ·changed their lives [repented] long ago. ·They would have worn rough cloth and put ashes on themselves to show they had changed [L …sitting in sackcloth/burlap and ashes; C signs of sorrow and deep remorse]. 14 But ·on the judgment day [L at the judgment] it will be ·better [more bearable/tolerable] for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum [C a town in Galilee where Jesus lived and ministered], will you be ·lifted up to [honored/exalted in] heaven? No! You will be thrown down to ·the depths [the place of the dead; hell; L Hades; Is. 14:13–15]!

16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me [Matt. 10:40; John 13:20], and whoever ·refuses to accept [rejects] you ·refuses to accept [rejects] me. And whoever ·refuses to accept [rejects] me ·refuses to accept [rejects] the One who sent me.”
