Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
You Are a Priest Forever
Of David. A Psalm.
110 (A)Yahweh says to my Lord:
“(B)Sit at My right hand
Until I put (C)Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.”
2 Yahweh will stretch forth Your strong (D)scepter from Zion, saying,
“(E)Have dominion in the midst of Your enemies.”
3 Your (F)people [a]will offer themselves freely in the day of Your [b]power;
(G)In the splendor of holiness, from the womb of the dawn,
The (H)dew of Your youthfulness will be Yours.
4 (I)Yahweh has sworn and will (J)not [c]change His mind,
“You are a (K)priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord is (L)at Your right hand;
He [d]will (M)crush kings in the (N)day of His anger.
6 He will (O)render justice among the nations,
He [e]will fill them with (P)corpses,
He [f]will (Q)crush the [g]head that is over the wide earth.
7 He will (R)drink from the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He will (S)lift up His head.
Trust, Fear, and Honor Yahweh
3 My son, (A)do not forget my [a]law,
But let your heart (B)guard my commandments;
2 For (C)length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.
3 Do not let (D)lovingkindness and truth forsake you;
(E)Bind them around your neck,
(F)Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will (G)find favor and (H)good insight
In the eyes of God and man.
5 (I)Trust in Yahweh with all your heart
And (J)do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways [b](K)acknowledge Him,
And He will (L)make your paths straight.
7 (M)Do not be wise in your own eyes;
(N)Fear Yahweh and turn away from evil.
8 It will be (O)healing to your [c]body
And (P)refreshment to your bones.
9 (Q)Honor Yahweh from your wealth
And from the (R)first of all your produce;
10 So your (S)barns will be filled with plenty
And your (T)vats will burst with new wine.
11 (U)My son, do not reject the [d]discipline of Yahweh
Or loathe His reproof,
12 For (V)whom Yahweh loves He reproves,
Even (W)as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
11 (A)Do not slander one another, (B)brothers. He who slanders a brother or (C)judges his brother, slanders (D)the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not (E)a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12 There is only one (F)Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is (G)able to save and to destroy. But (H)who are you who judge your neighbor?
Life Is a Vapor
13 (I)Come now, you who say, “(J)Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 [a]Yet you do not know [b]what your life will be like tomorrow. (K)You are a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 [c]Instead, you ought to say, “(L)If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast in your [d]arrogance. (M)All such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, (N)to one who knows to do the [e]right thing and does not do it, to him it is sin.
