148 Hallelujah! Praise Jehovah from the heavens; praise him in the heights.

² Praise ye him, all his angels; praise ye him, all his hosts.

³ Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light.

⁴ Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that are above the heavens.

⁵ Let them praise the name of Jehovah, for he it is that commanded, and they were created:

⁶ And he established them for ever and ever; he made [for them] a statute which shall not pass.

⁷ Praise Jehovah from the earth, ye sea-monsters, and all deeps;

⁸ Fire and hail, snow and vapour, stormy wind fulfilling his word;

⁹ Mountains and all hills, fruit-trees and all cedars;

¹⁰ Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and winged fowl;

¹¹ Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth;

¹² Both young men and maidens, old men with youths,—

¹³ Let them praise the name of Jehovah: for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above the earth and the heavens.

¹⁴ And he hath lifted up the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints, [even] of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Hallelujah!

⁵ In Gibeon Jehovah appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

⁶ And Solomon said, Thou hast shewn unto thy servant David my father great loving-kindness, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great loving-kindness, that thou hast given him a son who sits upon his throne, as it is this day.

⁷ And now, Jehovah my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father; and I am but a little child: I know not to go out and to come in.

⁸ And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

⁹ Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart, to judge thy people, to discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this thy numerous people?

¹⁰ And the word pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

¹¹ And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand judgment;

¹² behold, I have done according to thy word: behold, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there hath been none like unto thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

¹³ And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and glory; so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

¹⁴ And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will prolong thy days.

¹² Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹³ The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou bearest witness concerning thyself; thy witness is not true.

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is true, because I know whence I came and whither I go: but ye know not whence I come and whither I go.

¹⁵ Ye judge according to the flesh, I judge no one.

¹⁶ And if also I judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who has sent me.

¹⁷ And in your law too it is written that the testimony of two men is true:

¹⁸ I am [one] who bear witness concerning myself, and the Father who has sent me bears witness concerning me.

¹⁹ They said to him therefore, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me nor my Father. If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father.
