⁷ And Jehovah said to Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.

⁸ And thou shalt command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.

⁹ And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God.

¹⁰ And Joshua said, Hereby shall ye know that the living God is in your midst, and [that] he will without fail dispossess from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

¹¹ Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is going over before you into the Jordan.

¹² And now take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.

¹³ And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing down from above, shall be cut off, and shall stand up in a heap.

¹⁴ And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;

¹⁵ and when they that bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (and the Jordan is full over all its banks throughout the days of harvest),

¹⁶ the waters which flowed down from above stood [and] rose up in a heap, very far, by Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan; and those that flowed down towards the sea of the plain, the salt sea, were completely cut off. And the people went over opposite to Jericho.

¹⁷ And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan. And all Israel went over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely gone over the Jordan.

107 Give ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever.

² Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the oppressor,

³ And gathered out of the countries, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the sea.

⁴ They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation;

⁵ Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them:

⁶ Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, [and] he delivered them out of their distresses,

⁷ And he led them forth by a right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

³³ He maketh rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into dry ground;

³⁴ A fruitful land into a plain of salt, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

³⁵ He maketh the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs;

³⁶ And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, and they establish a city of habitation;

³⁷ And sow fields, and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase;

⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, not to be chargeable to any one of you, we have preached to you the glad tidings of God.

¹⁰ *Ye* [are] witnesses, and God, how piously and righteously and blamelessly we have conducted ourselves with you that believe:

¹¹ as ye know how, as a father his own children, we used to exhort each one of you, and comfort and testify,

¹² that ye should walk worthy of God, who calls you to his own kingdom and glory.

¹³ And for this cause we also give thanks to God unceasingly that, having received [the] word of [the] report of God by us, ye accepted, not men's word, but, even as it is truly, God's word, which also works in you who believe.

23 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,

² saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses' seat:

³ all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,

⁴ but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.

⁵ And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders [of their garments],

⁶ and love the chief place in feasts and the first seats in the synagogues,

⁷ and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

⁸ But *ye*, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all *ye* are brethren.

⁹ And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens.

¹⁰ Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.

¹¹ But the greatest of you shall be your servant.

¹² And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
