Moses Intercedes

12 Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘(A)Bring up this people!’ But You Yourself have not let me know (B)whom You will send with me. (C)Moreover, You have said, ‘I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.’ 13 Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, (D)let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. (E)Consider too, that this nation is Your people.” 14 And He said, “(F)My presence shall go with you, and (G)I will give you rest.” 15 Then he said to Him, “(H)If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. 16 For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that (I)we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the [a]earth?”

17 The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; (J)for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.” 18 (K)Then [b]Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “(L)I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and (M)I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, (N)for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Then the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place [c]by Me, and (O)you shall stand there on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and (P)cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but (Q)My face shall not be seen.”

Psalm 99

Praise to the Lord for His Fidelity to Israel.

99 (A)The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He [a](B)is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
The Lord [b]is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
Let them praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [c]He.
The [d]strength of the King (G)loves [e]justice;
You have established [f](H)equity;
You have (I)executed [g]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
[h](J)Exalt the Lord our God
And (K)worship at His footstool;
(L)Holy is He.

(M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
He (R)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
O Lord our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For holy is the Lord our God.

1 Thessalonians 1

Thanksgiving for These Believers

(A)Paul and (B)Silvanus and (C)Timothy,

To the (D)church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: (E)Grace to you and peace.

(F)We give thanks to God always for all of you, (G)making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your (H)work of faith and labor of (I)love and [a](J)steadfastness of hope [b]in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of (K)our God and Father, knowing, (L)brethren beloved by God, (M)His choice of you; for our (N)gospel did not come to you in word only, but also (O)in power and in the Holy Spirit and with (P)full conviction; just as you know (Q)what kind of men we [c]proved to be among you for your sake. You also became (R)imitators of us and of the Lord, (S)having received (T)the word in much tribulation with the (U)joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in (V)Macedonia and in (W)Achaia. For (X)the word of the Lord has (Y)sounded forth from you, not only in (Z)Macedonia and (AA)Achaia, but also (AB)in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. For they themselves report about us what kind of a [d](AC)reception we had [e]with you, and how you (AD)turned to God (AE)from [f]idols to serve [g](AF)a living and true God, 10 and to (AG)wait for His Son from [h]heaven, whom He (AH)raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who (AI)rescues us from (AJ)the wrath to come.

Matthew 22:15-22

Tribute to Caesar

15 (A)Then the Pharisees went and [a]plotted together how they might trap Him [b]in what He said. 16 And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the (B)Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and [c]defer to no one; for You are not partial to any. 17 Tell us then, what do You think? Is it [d]lawful to give a (C)poll-tax to (D)Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus perceived their [e]malice, and said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites? 19 Show Me the (E)coin used for the poll-tax.” And they brought Him a [f]denarius. 20 And He *said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” 21 They *said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He *said to them, (F)Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.” 22 And hearing this, they were amazed, and (G)leaving Him, they went away.
