Psalm 99

The Lord is Holy

99 The Lord reigns—
    let people tremble;
he is seated above the cherubim—
    let the earth quake.
The Lord is great in Zion
    and is exalted above all peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
    He is holy!

A mighty king who loves justice,
    you have established fairness.
You have exercised justice
    and righteousness over Jacob.
Exalt the Lord our God;
    worship and bow down at his footstool;
        He is holy!

Moses and Aaron were among his priests;
    Samuel also was among those who invoked his name.
When they called on the Lord,
    he answered them.
In a pillar of cloud he spoke to them;
    they obeyed his decrees
        and the Law that he gave them.
Lord our God, you answered them;
    you were their God who forgave[a] them,
        but also avenged their evil deeds.

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain,
    for the Lord our God is holy!

Exodus 31:1-11

Craftsmen for the Tent

31 The Lord told Moses, “Look, I’ve called[a] Uri’s son Bezalel, grandson of Hur from Judah’s tribe and I’ve filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all kinds of craftsmanship to create plans[b] for work in gold, silver, and bronze, and for cutting stones to set them, for carving wood, and for doing all kinds of craftsmanship. Along with him I’m appointing Ahisamach’s son Oholiab from the tribe of Dan, and I’ve given wisdom[c] to all who are skilled[d] so they can make everything that I’ve commanded you, including the Tent of Meeting, the Ark of the Testimony, the Mercy Seat[e] that is on it, all the furnishings of the tent— the table and its furnishings, the lamp stand of pure gold,[f] all its furnishings, the altar of incense, the altar for burnt offerings, its furnishings, the basin, its base, 10 the woven garments, the holy garments of Aaron the priest, the garments of his sons as they serve as priests, 11 the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them in accordance with everything that I commanded you.”

1 Peter 5:1-5

Be Shepherds of God’s Flock

Therefore, as a fellow elder, a witness of the Messiah’s[a] sufferings, and one who shares in the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over it, not because you must but because you want to, and not greedily but eagerly, as God desires. Do not lord it over the people entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock. Then, when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the victor’s crown of glory that will never fade away.

Be Humble and Alert

In a similar way, you young people must submit to the elders.[b] All of you must clothe yourselves with humility for the sake of each other, because:

“God opposes the arrogant,
    but gives grace to the humble.”[c]
