Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Praise to the Lord for His Holiness
99 The Lord reigns;
Let the peoples tremble!
(A)He dwells between the cherubim;
Let the earth be [a]moved!
2 The Lord is great in Zion,
And He is high above all the peoples.
3 Let them praise Your great and awesome name—
[b]He is holy.
4 The King’s strength also loves justice;
You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His footstool—
He is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who (B)called upon His name;
They called upon the Lord, and He answered them.
7 He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar;
They kept His testimonies and the [c]ordinance He gave them.
8 You answered them, O Lord our God;
You were to them God-Who-Forgives,
Though You took vengeance on their deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His holy hill;
For the Lord our God is holy.
Moses Meets with the Lord
7 Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and (A)called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who (B)sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. 8 So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood (C)at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. 9 And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord (D)talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and (E)worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11 So (F)the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but (G)his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
Diotrephes and Demetrius
9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, (A)prating[a] against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.
11 Beloved, (B)do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. (C)He who does good is of God, [b]but he who does evil has not seen (D)God.
12 Demetrius (E)has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also [c]bear witness, (F)and you know that our testimony is true.
