Psalm 106:1-6

Joy in Forgiveness of Israel’s Sins

106 Praise[a] the Lord!

(A)Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Who can [b]utter the mighty acts of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise?
Blessed are those who keep justice,
And [c]he who (B)does righteousness at (C)all times!

(D)Remember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people.
Oh, visit me with Your salvation,
That I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may glory with [d]Your inheritance.

(E)We have sinned with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity,
We have done wickedly.

Psalm 106:19-23

19 (A)They made a calf in Horeb,
And worshiped the molded image.
20 Thus (B)they changed their glory
Into the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They forgot God their Savior,
Who had done great things in Egypt,
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,
Awesome things by the Red Sea.
23 (C)Therefore He said that He would destroy them,
Had not Moses His chosen one (D)stood before Him in the breach,
To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.

Exodus 24:9-11

On the Mountain with God

Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and they (A)saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of (B)sapphire stone, and it was like the (C)very[a] heavens in its clarity. 11 But on the nobles of the children of Israel He (D)did not [b]lay His hand. So (E)they saw God, and they (F)ate and drank.

James 4:4-10

[a]Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that (A)friendship with the world is enmity with God? (B)Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, (C)“The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

(D)“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”

Humility Cures Worldliness

Therefore submit to God. (E)Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (F)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (G)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and (H)purify your hearts, you double-minded. (I)Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 (J)Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
