Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
To the chief Musician. Upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David.
8 Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established praise because of thine adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast established;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.
6 Thou hast made him to rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet:
7 Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, [whatever] passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their burdens; and he saw an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 And he turned this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he smote the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 And he went out on the second day, and behold, two Hebrew men were quarrelling; and he said to him that was in the wrong, Why art thou smiting thy neighbour?
14 And he said, Who made thee ruler and judge over us? dost thou intend to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared, and said, Surely the matter is known.
15 And Pharaoh heard of this matter, and sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from before Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian. And he sat by the well.
33 O depth of riches both of [the] wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable his judgments, and untraceable his ways!
34 For who has known [the] mind of [the] Lord, or who has been his counsellor?
35 or who has first given to him, and it shall be rendered to him?
36 For of him, and through him, and for him [are] all things: to him be glory for ever. Amen.
