Version
Psalm 124

Praise for Rescue from Enemies.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

124 (A)Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,”
(B)Let Israel now say,
“Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When men rose up against us,
Then they would have (C)swallowed us alive,
When their (D)anger was kindled against us;
Then the (E)waters would have engulfed us,
The stream would have [a]swept over our soul;
Then the (F)raging waters would have [b]swept over our soul.”

Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us [c]to be (G)torn by their teeth.
Our soul has (H)escaped (I)as a bird out of the (J)snare of the trapper;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
Our (K)help is in the name of the Lord,
Who (L)made heaven and earth.

Genesis 50:15-26

15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “(A)What if Joseph bears a grudge against us and pays us back in full for all the wrong which we did to him!” 16 So they [a]sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father charged before he died, saying, 17 ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph, “Please forgive, I beg you, the transgression of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.”’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. 18 Then his brothers also came and (B)fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” 19 But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place? 20 As for you, (C)you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about [b]this present result, to preserve many people alive. 21 So therefore, do not be afraid; (D)I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke [c]kindly to them.

Death of Joseph

22 Now Joseph stayed in Egypt, he and his father’s household, and Joseph lived one hundred and ten years. 23 Joseph saw the third generation of Ephraim’s sons; also the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were (E)born on Joseph’s knees. 24 Joseph said to his brothers, “(F)I am about to die, but God will surely [d]take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He [e]promised on oath to (G)Abraham, to (H)Isaac and to (I)Jacob.” 25 Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely [f]take care of you, and (J)you shall carry my bones up from here.” 26 So Joseph died at the age of one hundred and ten years; and [g]he was (K)embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.

Matthew 16:5-12

And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and (A)beware of the [a]leaven of the (B)Pharisees and Sadducees.” They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.” But Jesus, aware of this, said, (C)You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or remember (D)the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? 10 Or (E)the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? 11 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But (F)beware of the [b]leaven of the (G)Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the (H)Pharisees and Sadducees.
