Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Excellency of Brotherly Unity.
A Song of Ascents, of David.
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For (A)brothers to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious (B)oil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Even Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the (C)edge of his robes.
3 It is like the (D)dew of (E)Hermon
Coming down upon the (F)mountains of Zion;
For there the Lord (G)commanded the blessing—(H)life forever.
37 Now the [a]proposal seemed good [b]to Pharaoh and [c]to all his servants.
Joseph Is Made a Ruler of Egypt
38 Then Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, (A)in whom is a divine spirit?” 39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has informed you of all this, there is no one so (B)discerning and wise as you are. 40 (C)You shall be over my house, and according to your [d]command all my people shall [e]do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.” 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you (D)over all the land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh (E)took off his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and (F)put the gold necklace around his neck. 43 He had him ride in [f]his second chariot; and they proclaimed before him, “[g]Bow the knee!” And he set him over all the land of Egypt. 44 Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Though I am Pharaoh, yet (G)without [h]your permission no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” 45 Then Pharaoh named Joseph [i]Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of [j](H)On, as his wife. And Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt.
46 Now Joseph was (I)thirty years old when he [k]stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went through all the land of Egypt. 47 During the seven years of plenty the land brought forth [l]abundantly. 48 So he gathered all the food of these seven years which occurred in the land of Egypt and placed the food in the cities; he placed in every city the food from its own surrounding fields. 49 Thus Joseph stored up grain [m]in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped [n]measuring it, for it was [o]beyond measure.
The Sons of Joseph
50 Now before the year of famine came, (J)two sons were born to Joseph, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of [p]On, bore to him. 51 Joseph named the firstborn [q]Manasseh, “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” 52 He named the second [r]Ephraim, “For,” he said, “(K)God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
53 When the seven years of plenty which had been in the land of Egypt came to an end, 54 and (L)the seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said, then there was famine in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. 55 So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph; (M)whatever he says to you, you shall do.” 56 When the famine was spread over all the face of the earth, then Joseph opened all [s]the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. 57 The people of all the earth came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because (N)the famine was severe in all the earth.
19 But (A)Jews came from (B)Antioch and (C)Iconium, and having won over the crowds, they (D)stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. 20 But while (E)the disciples stood around him, he got up and entered the city. The next day he went away with Barnabas to (F)Derbe. 21 After they had (G)preached the gospel to that city and had (H)made many disciples, they returned to (I)Lystra and to (J)Iconium and to (K)Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of (L)the disciples, encouraging them to continue in (M)the faith, and saying, “(N)Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” 23 When (O)they had appointed (P)elders for them in every church, having (Q)prayed with fasting, they (R)commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
24 They passed through (S)Pisidia and came into (T)Pamphylia. 25 When they had spoken the word in (U)Perga, they went down to Attalia. 26 From there they sailed to (V)Antioch, from (W)which they had been (X)commended to the grace of God for the work that they had [a]accomplished. 27 When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to (Y)report all things that God had done with them and [b]how He had opened a (Z)door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 And they spent [c]a long time with (AA)the disciples.
