Esau’s Family
36 These are the family records(A) of Esau (that is, Edom(B)). 2 Esau took his wives from the Canaanite women: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite,(C) Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter[a] of Zibeon the Hivite, 3 and Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.(D) 4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, 5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These were Esau’s sons, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all the people of his household, as well as his herds, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan; he went to a land away from his brother Jacob. 7 For their possessions were too many for them to live together,(E) and because of their herds, the land where they stayed could not support them.(F) 8 So Esau (that is, Edom) lived in the mountains of Seir.(G)
The Eloquent Apollos
24 A Jew named Apollos,(A) a native Alexandrian, an eloquent man who was powerful in the use of the Scriptures, arrived in Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit,[a] he spoke and taught the things about Jesus accurately, although he knew only John’s baptism.(B) 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. After Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him home[b] and explained the way of God to him more accurately.(C) 27 When he wanted to cross over to Achaia, the brothers wrote to the disciples urging them to welcome him. After he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace.(D) 28 For he vigorously refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah.(E)
