105 Alleluia. Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

² Who shall declare the powers of the Lord? who shall set forth all his praises?

³ Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do justice at all times.

⁴ Remember us, O Lord, in the favour of thy people: visit us with thy salvation.

⁵ That we may see the good of thy chosen, that we may rejoice in the joy of thy nation: that thou mayst be praised with thy inheritance.

⁶ We have sinned with our fathers: we have acted unjustly, we have wrought iniquity.

⁷ Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt: they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies: And they provoked to wrath going up to the sea, even the Red Sea.

⁸ And he saved them for his own name's sake: that he might make his power known.

⁹ And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness.

¹⁰ And he saved them from the hand of them that hated them: and he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

¹¹ And the water covered them that afflicted them: there was not one of them left.

⁴⁵ And he was mindful of his covenant: and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

29 Then Jacob went on in his journey, and came into the east country.

² And he saw a well in the field, and three flocks of sheep lying by it: for the beasts were watered out of it, and the mouth thereof was closed with a great stone.

³ And the custom was, when all the sheep were gathered together to roll away the stone, and after the sheep were watered, to put it on the mouth of the well again.

⁴ And he said to the shepherds: Brethren, whence are you? They answered: Of Haran.

⁵ And he asked them, saying: Know you Laban the son of Nachor? They said: We know him.

⁶ He said: Is he in health? He is in health, say they: and behold Rachel his daughter cometh with his flock.

⁷ And Jacob said: There is yet much day remaining, neither is it time to bring the flocks into the folds again: first give the sheep drink, and so lead them back to feed.

⁸ They answered: We cannot, till all the cattle be gathered together, and we remove the stone from the well's mouth, that we may water the flocks.

¹⁴ I write not these things to confound you; but I admonish you as my dearest children.

¹⁵ For if you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, by the gospel, I have begotten you.

¹⁶ Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me, as I also am of Christ.

¹⁷ For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my dearest son and faithful in the Lord; who will put you in mind of my ways, which are in Christ Jesus; as I teach everywhere in every church.

¹⁸ As if I would not come to you, so some are puffed up.

¹⁹ But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will: and will know, not the speech of them that are puffed up, but the power.

²⁰ For the kingdom of God is not in speech, but in power.
