Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
6 [a]When they therefore were come together they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time [b]restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the [c]seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 (A)But ye shall receive power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 (B)[d]And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up: for a cloud took him up out of their sight.
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel.
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing into heaven? This Jesus which is taken up [e]from you into heaven, shall so come, as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 ¶ Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount that is called the mount of Olives, which is near to Jerusalem, being from it a Sabbath [f]day’s journey.
13 [g]And when they were [h]come in, they went up into an upper chamber, where abode both Peter and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zealot, and Judas James’s brother.
14 These all [i]continued with [j]one accord in [k]prayer and supplication with the [l]women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his [m]brethren.
68 1 In this Psalm David setteth forth as in a glass the wonderful mercies of God toward his people: 5 Who by all means and most strange sorts declared himself to them. 15 And therefore God’s Church by reason of his promises, graces, and victories, doth excel without comparison all worldly things. 34 He exhorteth therefore all men to praise God forever.
To him that excelleth. A Psalm or song of David.
1 God [a]will arise, and his enemies shall be scattered: they also that hate him, shall flee before him.
2 As the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou drive them away: and as wax melteth before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 [b]But the righteous shall be glad, and rejoice before God: yea, they shall leap for joy.
4 Sing unto God, and sing praises unto his name: exalt him that rideth upon the heavens, in his Name [c]Jah, and rejoice before him.
5 He is a Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, even God in his holy habitation.
6 God [d]maketh the solitary to dwell in families, and delivereth them that were prisoners in stocks: but the rebellious shall dwell in a [e]dry land.
7 [f]O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people: when thou wentest through the wilderness, (Selah.)
8 The earth shook, and the heavens dropped at the presence of this God: even Sinai was moved at the presence of God, even the God of Israel.
9 Thou, O God, sentest a gracious rain upon thine inheritance, and thou didst refresh it when it was weary.
10 Thy Congregation dwelled therein: for thou, O God, hast of thy [g]goodness prepared it for the poor.
32 Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth: sing praise unto the Lord, (Selah)
33 To him that rideth upon the most high heavens, which were from the beginning: behold, he will send out by his [a]voice a mighty sound.
34 Ascribe the power to God: for his majesty is upon Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
35 O God, thou art [b]terrible out of thine holy [c]places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto the people: praised be God.
12 [a]Dearly beloved, think it not [b]strange [c]concerning the fiery trial, which is among you to prove you as though some strange thing were come unto you.
13 [d]But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, that when his glory shall appear, ye may be glad and rejoice.
14 (A)[e]If ye be railed upon for the Name of Christ, blessed are ye: for the [f]spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: which on their part is evil spoken of, but on your part is glorified.
6 Humble (A)yourselves therefore [a]under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
7 (B)Cast all your care on him: for he careth for you.
8 [b]Be sober, and watch: for (C)your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, [c]knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your [d]brethren which are in the world.
10 [e]And the God of all grace, which hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a little, make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
11 To him be glory and dominion forever and ever, Amen.
17 1 Christ prayeth that his glory together with his Father’s may be made manifest. 9 He Prayeth for his Apostles, 20 and for all believers.
1 These [a]things spake Jesus, and lift up his eyes to heaven, and said, [b]Father, that hour is come: glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee,
2 (A)As thou hast given him power over [c]all flesh, that he should give eternal life to all them that thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they know thee to be the [d]only very God, and whom thou hast sent, Jesus Christ.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now glorify me, thou Father, with thine own self, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6 [e]I have declared thy Name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: [f]thine they were, and thou [g]gavest them me, and they have kept thy word.
7 (B)Now they know that all things whatsoever thou hast given me, are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me, and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and have believed that thou hast sent me.
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me: for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them.
11 And now am I no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy Name, even them whom thou hast given me, that they may be [h]one as we are.
