Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
9 ¶ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: my eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
10 For my life is spent with grief and my years with sighing: my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to my acquaintances: those that see me without flee from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I have become like a lost vessel.
13 For I have heard the slander of many; fear was on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my God.
15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those that persecute me.
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy slave; save me for thy mercies’ sake.
11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are all thy young men here? And he said, There remains yet the youngest, and, behold, he keeps the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send for him, for we will not sit down to the table until he comes here.
12 And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and of a beautiful countenance and handsome. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him, for this is he.
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him from among his brethren; and the Spirit of the LORD prospered David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
1 ¶ Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 ¶ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you
4 always in every prayer of mine for you all, making request with joy,
5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,
6 being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ.
7 ¶ Even as it is right for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are joint partakers of my grace.
8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
9 ¶ And this I pray that your charity may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all perception,
10 that ye may approve the best, that ye may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ,
11 being filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
