Psalm 95

Psalm 95

Come, let’s sing joyfully to Yahweh.
Let’s shout happily to the rock of our salvation.
Let’s come into his presence with a song of thanksgiving.
Let’s shout happily to him with psalms.
Yahweh is a great El and a great Melek above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth,
and the mountain peaks are his.
The sea is his.
He made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Come, let’s worship and bow down.
Let’s kneel in front of Yahweh, our maker,
        because he is our Elohim
and we are the people in his care,
                the flock that he leads.

If only you would listen to him today!
“Do not be stubborn like my people were at Meribah,
like the time at Massah in the desert.
Your ancestors challenged me and tested me there,
although they had seen what I had done.
10 For 40 years I was disgusted with those people.
So I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts continue to stray.
They have not learned my ways.’
11 That is why I angrily took this solemn oath:
‘They will never enter my place of rest!’”

Exodus 16:1-8

The Lord Provides Manna and Quails for the Israelites to Eat

16 The whole community of Israelites moved from Elim and came to the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai. This was on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had left Egypt. In the desert the whole community complained about Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only Yahweh had let us die in Egypt! There we sat by our pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted! You brought us out into this desert to let us all starve to death!”

Yahweh said to Moses, “I’m going to send you food from heaven like rain. Each day the people should go out and gather only what they need for that day. In this way I will test them to see whether or not they will follow my instructions. But on the sixth day when they prepare what they bring home, it should be twice as much as they gather on other days.”

So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “In the evening you will know that it was Yahweh who brought you out of Egypt. In the morning you will see the glory of Yahweh, because he has heard you complaining about Yahweh. Why are you complaining about us?” Moses also said, “Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening and all the food you want in the morning. Yahweh has heard you complaining about him. Who are we? You’re not complaining about us but about Yahweh.”

Colossians 1:15-23

15 He is the image of the invisible God,
    the firstborn of all creation.
16 He created all things in heaven and on earth,
    visible and invisible.
Whether they are kings or lords,
            rulers or powers—
everything has been created through him and for him.
17 He existed before everything
    and holds everything together.
18 He is also the head of the church, which is his body.
    He is the beginning,
the first to come back to life
so that he would have first place in everything.

19 God was pleased to have all of himself live in Christ. 20 God was also pleased to bring everything on earth and in heaven back to himself through Christ. He did this by making peace through Christ’s blood sacrificed on the cross.

21 Once you were separated from God. The evil things you did showed your hostile attitude. 22 But now Christ has brought you back to God by dying in his physical body. He did this so that you could come into God’s presence without sin, fault, or blame. 23 This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I, Paul, became a servant. It has been spread throughout all creation under heaven.
