A Song of degrees.

¹ ¶ Blessed is every one that fears the LORD, that walks in his ways.

² When thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands; happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

⁴ Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the LORD.

⁵ The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion, and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

⁶ Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children and peace upon Israel.

¹⁷ ¶ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

¹⁸ But ye shall be glad and rejoice from age to age in the things which I shall create; for, behold, I create joy unto Jerusalem and unto her people joy.

¹⁹ And I will be glad with Jerusalem and rejoice with my people: and the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

²⁰ There shall no longer be there an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days, for the child shall die one hundred years old; and he who sins at one hundred years of age shall be accursed.

²¹ And they shall build houses and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them.

²² They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of the trees shall be the days of my people, and my elect shall perpetuate the work of their hands.

²³ They shall not labour in vain, nor give birth with fear; for their births are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring shall be with them.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall be fed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not afflict nor do evil in all my holy mountain, said the LORD.

⁶ Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man unto whom God doth attribute righteousness without works,

⁷ saying, Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.

⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute sin.

⁹ ¶ Is this blessedness, therefore, only upon the circumcision or also upon the uncircumcision? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham as righteousness.

¹⁰ How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

¹¹ And he received the circumcision as a sign, as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had, yet being uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all the uncircumcised believers, that it might be counted unto them also as righteousness,

¹² that he be the father of the circumcision: not only to those who are of the circumcision, but also unto those who walk in the steps of the faith that was in our father Abraham before he was circumcised.

¹³ For the promise that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
