¹² And the Lord said to Moses: Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and the law, and the commandments which I have written: that thou mayst teach them.

¹³ Moses rose up, and his minister Josue: and Moses going up into the mount of God,

¹⁴ Said to the ancients: Wait ye here till we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you: if any question shall arise, you shall refer it to them.

¹⁵ And when Moses was gone up, a cloud covered the mount.

¹⁶ And the glory of the Lord dwelt upon Sinai, covering it with a cloud six days: and the seventh day he called him out of the midst of the cloud.

¹⁷ And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like a burning fire upon the top of the mount, in the eyes of the children of Israel.

¹⁸ And Moses, entering into the midst of the cloud, went up into the mountain: and he was there forty days, and forty nights.

2 Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things?

² The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord and against his Christ.

³ Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us.

⁴ He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them.

⁵ Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage.

⁶ But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment.

⁷ The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.

⁸ Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.

⁹ Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

¹⁰ And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth.

¹¹ Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling.

¹² Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way.

¹³ When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.

99 A psalm of praise.

² Sing joyfully to God, all the earth: serve ye the Lord with gladness. Come in before his presence with exceeding great joy.

³ Know ye that the Lord he is God: he made us, and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

⁴ Go ye into his gates with praise, into his courts with hymns: and give glory to him. Praise ye his name:

⁵ For the Lord is sweet, his mercy endureth for ever, and his truth to generation and generation.

¹⁶ For we have not by following artificial fables, made known to you the power, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eyewitnesses of his greatness.

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father, honour and glory: this voice coming down to him from the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

¹⁸ And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.

¹⁹ And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

²⁰ Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation.

²¹ For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.

17 And after six days Jesus taketh unto him Peter and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:

² And he was transfigured before them. And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow.

³ And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.

⁴ And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

⁵ And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

⁶ And the disciples hearing, fell upon their face, and were very much afraid.

⁷ And Jesus came and touched them: and said to them, Arise, and fear not.

⁸ And they lifting up their eyes saw no one but only Jesus.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead.
