Psalm 29

Psalm 29

A psalm by David.

Give to Yahweh, you heavenly beings.
Give to Yahweh glory and power.
Give to Yahweh the glory his name deserves.
Worship Yahweh in his holy splendor.

The voice of Yahweh rolls over the water.
    The El of glory thunders.
        Yahweh shouts over raging water.
The voice of Yahweh is powerful.
The voice of Yahweh is majestic.
The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars.
Yahweh splinters the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon skip along like a calf
and Mount Sirion like a wild ox.
The voice of Yahweh strikes with flashes of lightning.
The voice of Yahweh makes the wilderness tremble.
Yahweh makes the wilderness of Kadesh tremble.
The voice of Yahweh splits the oaks[a]
and strips the trees of the forests bare.
Everyone in his temple is saying, “Glory!”

10 Yahweh sat enthroned over the flood.
Yahweh sits enthroned as Melek forever.
11 Yahweh will give power to his people.
Yahweh will bless his people with peace.

1 Samuel 3:10-4:1

10 Yahweh came and stood there. He called as he had called the other times: “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak. I’m listening.”

11 Then Yahweh said to Samuel, “I am going to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears it ring. 12 On that day I am going to do to Eli and his family everything I said from beginning to end. 13 I told him that I would hand down a permanent judgment against his household because he knew about his sons’ sin—that they were cursing God[a]—but he didn’t try to stop them. 14 That is why I have taken an oath concerning Eli’s family line: No offering or sacrifice will ever be able to make peace for the sins that Eli’s family committed.”

15 Samuel remained in bed until morning. Then he opened the doors of Yahweh’s house. But Samuel was afraid to tell Eli about the vision.

16 Then Eli called Samuel. “Samuel, my son!” he said.

“Here I am,” he responded.

17 “What did Yahweh tell you?” he asked. “Please don’t hide anything from me. May Elohim strike you dead if you hide anything he told you from me.”

18 So Samuel told Eli everything.

Eli replied, “He is Yahweh. May he do what he thinks is right.”

19 Samuel grew up. Yahweh was with him and didn’t let any of his words go unfulfilled. 20 All Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew Samuel was Yahweh’s appointed prophet. 21 Yahweh continued to appear in Shiloh, since Yahweh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh through the word of Yahweh. And Samuel spoke to all Israel.[b]

The Army Sends for the Ark

Israel went to fight against the Philistines and camped near Ebenezer while the Philistines camped at Aphek.

Acts 9:10-19

10 A disciple named Ananias lived in the city of Damascus. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias!”

Ananias answered, “Yes, Lord.”

11 The Lord told him, “Get up! Go to Judas’ house on Straight Street, and ask for a man named Saul from the city of Tarsus. He’s praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias place his hands on him to restore his sight.”

13 Ananias replied, “Lord, I’ve heard a lot of people tell about the many evil things this man has done to your people in Jerusalem. 14 Saul has come here to Damascus with authority from the chief priests to put anyone who calls on your name in prison.”

15 The Lord told Ananias, “Go! I’ve chosen this man to bring my name to nations, to kings, and to the people of Israel. 16 I’ll show him how much he has to suffer for the sake of my name.”

17 Ananias left and entered Judas’ house. After he placed his hands on Saul, Ananias said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Yeshua, who appeared to you on your way to Damascus, sent me to you. He wants you to see again and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

18 Immediately, something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. Then Saul stood up and was baptized. 19 After he had something to eat, his strength came back to him.

Saul was with the disciples in the city of Damascus for several days.
