Psalm 20

20 Unto the end. A psalm for David.

In thy strength, O Lord, the king shall joy; and in thy salvation he shall rejoice exceedingly.

Thou hast given him his heart's desire: and hast not withholden from him the will of his lips.

For thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness: thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.

He asked life of thee: and thou hast given him length of days for ever and ever.

His glory is great in thy salvation: glory and great beauty shalt thou lay upon him.

For thou shalt give him to be a blessing for ever and ever: thou shalt make him joyful in gladness with thy countenance.

For the king hopeth in the Lord: and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

Let thy hand be found by all thy enemies: let thy right hand find out all them that hate thee.

10 Thou shalt make them as an oven of fire, in the time of thy anger: the Lord shall trouble them in his wrath, and fire shall devour them.

11 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth: and their seed from among the children of men.

12 For they have intended evils against thee: they have devised counsels which they have not been able to establish.

13 For thou shalt make them turn their back: in thy remnants thou shalt prepare their face.

14 Be thou exalted, O Lord, in thy own strength: we will sing and praise thy power.

Genesis 12:1-7

12 And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and out of thy father's house, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed.

I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed:

So Abram went out as the Lord had commanded him, and Lot went with him: Abram was seventy-five years old when he went forth from Haran.

And he took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all the substance which they had gathered, and the souls which they had gotten in Haran: and they went out to go into the land of Chanaan. And when they were come into it,

Abram passed through the country into the place of Sichem, as far as the noble vale: now the Chanaanite was at that time in the land.

And the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him: To thy seed will I give this land. And he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Hebrews 11:1-12

11 Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not.

For by this the ancients obtained a testimony.

By faith we understand that the world was framed by the word of God; that from invisible things visible things might be made.

By faith Abel offered to God a sacrifice exceeding that of Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was just, God giving testimony to his gifts; and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith Henoch was translated, that he should not see death; and he was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had testimony that he pleased God.

But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and is a rewarder to them that seek him.

By faith Noe, having received an answer concerning those things which as yet were not seen, moved with fear, framed the ark for the saving of his house, by the which he condemned the world; and was instituted heir of the justice which is by faith.

By faith he that is called Abraham, obeyed to go out into a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

By faith he abode in the land, dwelling in cottages, with Isaac and Jacob, the co-heirs of the same promise.

10 For he looked for a city that hath foundations; whose builder and maker is God.

11 By faith also Sara herself, being barren, received strength to conceive seed, even past the time of age; because she believed that he was faithful who had promised,

12 For which cause there sprung even from one (and him as good as dead) as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
