The Magnificat

46 And Mary said:

(A)My soul [a](B)exalts the Lord,
47 And (C)my spirit has rejoiced in (D)God my Savior.
48 “For (E)He has had regard for the humble state of His [b]bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me (F)blessed.
49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me;
And holy is His name.
50 (G)And His mercy is [c]upon generation after generation
Toward those who fear Him.
51 (H)He has done [d]mighty deeds with His arm;
He has scattered those who were proud in the [e]thoughts of their heart.
52 “He has brought down rulers from their thrones,
And has (I)exalted those who were humble.
53 (J)He has filled the hungry with good things;
And sent away the rich empty-handed.
54 “He has given help to Israel His servant,
[f]In remembrance of His mercy,
55 (K)As He spoke to our fathers,
(L)To Abraham and his [g]descendants forever.”

2 Samuel 7:18

David’s Prayer

18 Then David the king went in and sat before the Lord, and he said, “(A)Who am I, O Lord [a]God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

2 Samuel 7:23-29

23 And (A)what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and (B)to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before (C)Your people whom (D)You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods? 24 For (E)You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your own people forever, and (F)You, O Lord, have become their God. 25 Now therefore, O Lord God, the word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house, confirm it forever, and do as You have spoken, 26 (G)that Your name may be magnified forever, by saying, ‘The Lord of hosts is God over Israel’; and may the house of Your servant David be established before You. 27 For You, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have [a]made a revelation to Your servant, saying, ‘(H)I will build you a house’; therefore Your servant has found [b]courage to pray this prayer to You. 28 Now, O Lord God, You are God, and (I)Your words are truth, and You have [c]promised this good thing to Your servant. 29 Now therefore, may it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O Lord God, have spoken; and (J)with Your blessing may the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”

Galatians 3:6-14

[a]Even so (A)Abraham (B)believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, [b]be sure that (C)it is those who are of faith who are (D)sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God [c]would justify the [d]Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “(E)All the nations will be blessed in you. So then (F)those who are of faith are blessed with [e]Abraham, the believer.

10 For as many as are of the works of [f]the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “(G)Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.” 11 Now that (H)no one is justified [g]by [h]the Law before God is evident; for, “[i](I)The righteous man shall live by faith.” 12 [j]However, the Law is not [k]of faith; on the contrary, “(J)He who practices them shall live [l]by them.” 13 Christ (K)redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “(L)Cursed is everyone who hangs on (M)a [m]tree”— 14 in order that (N)in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might [n]come to the Gentiles, so that we (O)would receive (P)the promise of the Spirit through faith.
