Psalm 80:1-7

Psalm 80

A Prayer for Restoration

For the choir director: according to “The Lilies.”(A) A testimony of Asaph.(B) A psalm.

Listen, Shepherd of Israel,
who leads Joseph like a flock;(C)
you who sit enthroned between the cherubim,(D)
shine(E) on Ephraim,
Benjamin, and Manasseh.(F)
Rally your power and come to save us.(G)
Restore us, God;
make your face shine on us,(H)
so that we may be saved.(I)

Lord God of Armies,
how long will you be angry
with your people’s prayers?(J)
You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure[a]
of tears to drink.(K)
You put us at odds with our neighbors;
our enemies mock us.(L)
Restore us, God of Armies;
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.(M)

Psalm 80:17-19

17 Let your hand be with the man at your right hand,
with the son of man
you have made strong for yourself.(A)
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.(B)
19 Restore us, Lord, God of Armies;(C)
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.(D)

2 Samuel 7:18-22

David’s Prayer of Thanksgiving

18 Then King David went in,(A) sat in the Lord’s presence, and said,

Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me this far? 19 What you have done so far[a] was a little thing to you, Lord God, for you have also spoken about your servant’s house in the distant future. And this is a revelation[b] for mankind, Lord God. 20 What more can David say to you? You know your servant,(B) Lord God. 21 Because of your word and according to your will, you have revealed all these great things to your servant.

22 This is why you are great,(C) Lord God. There is no one like you, and there is no God besides you,(D) as all we have heard confirms.

Galatians 4:1-7

Now I say that as long as the heir(A) is a child, he differs in no way from a slave, though he is the owner(B) of everything. Instead, he is under guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were in slavery under the elements[a] of the world.(C) When the time came to completion, God sent his Son,(D) born of a woman,(E) born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.(F) And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son(G) into our[b] hearts, crying, “Abba,[c] Father!” (H) So you are no longer a slave(I) but a son,(J) and if a son, then God has made you an heir.(K)
