Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Reign of the Righteous King.
A Psalm of Solomon.
72 Give the king (A)Your judgments, O God,
And (B)Your righteousness to the king’s son.
2 [a]May [b]he (C)judge Your people with righteousness
And [c](D)Your afflicted with justice.
3 [d]Let the mountains bring [e](E)peace to the people,
And the hills, in righteousness.
4 [f]May he (F)vindicate the [g]afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressor.
2 In that day the (A)Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the (B)fruit of the earth will be the pride and the adornment of the (C)survivors of Israel. 3 It will come about that he who is (D)left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called (E)holy—everyone who is (F)recorded for life in Jerusalem. 4 When the Lord has washed away the filth of the (G)daughters of Zion and [a]purged the (H)bloodshed of Jerusalem from her midst, by the (I)spirit of judgment and the (J)spirit of burning, 5 then the Lord will create over the whole area of Mount Zion and over her assemblies (K)a cloud by day, even smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night; for over all the (L)glory will be a canopy. 6 There will be a (M)shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and [b]protection from the storm and the rain.
The Upper Room
12 Then they (A)returned to Jerusalem from the [a](B)mount called [b]Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a [c]Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went up to (C)the upper room where they were staying; (D)that is, Peter and John and [d]James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, [e]James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and (E)Judas the [f]son of [g]James. 14 These all with one mind (F)were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with (G)the women, and Mary the (H)mother of Jesus, and with His (I)brothers.
15 [h]At this time Peter stood up in the midst of (J)the brethren (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty [i]persons was there together), and said, 16 “Brethren, (K)the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, (L)who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17 For he was (M)counted among us and received his share in (N)this ministry.”
21 Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that (A)the Lord Jesus went in and out [a]among us— 22 (B)beginning [b]with the baptism of John until the day that He (C)was taken up from us—one of these must become a (D)witness with us of His resurrection.” 23 So they put forward two men, Joseph called Barsabbas (who was also called Justus), and (E)Matthias. 24 And they (F)prayed and said, “You, Lord, (G)who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two You have chosen 25 to [c]occupy (H)this ministry and (I)apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.” 26 And they [d](J)drew lots for them, and the lot fell [e]to (K)Matthias; and he was [f]added to (L)the eleven apostles.
