Psalm 117

Psalm 117

Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord, all you nations.
Worship him, every race of people.[a]
For his mercy overwhelms us,
and the faithfulness[b] of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:1-6

The Lord’s Love for Israel

31 At that time, declares the Lord,

I will be the God of all the families of Israel,
and they will be my people.

This is what the Lord says.
The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness.
Israel had continual rest.

The Lord appeared to me[a] from a distance, saying:
I have loved you with an everlasting love.
I have drawn you with mercy.
I will build you up again,
and you will be built up, O Virgin Israel.
You will pick up your drums again,
and you will go out to dance with those who are joyful.
Again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria.
The planters will plant and will enjoy its fruit.
For there will be a day
when the watchmen on the hills of Ephraim cry out,
“Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.”

Luke 1:1-4

Introduction

Many have undertaken to compile an account of the events that have been fulfilled among us, an account like those handed down to us by those who were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word from the beginning. For this reason, it seemed good to me also, since I followed everything closely from the beginning, to write an orderly account to you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you were taught.
