Psalm 76

76 God is known in Judah. His Name is great in Israel.

For in Salem is His Tabernacle; and His dwelling is in Zion.

There He broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

You are brighter and more excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stout-hearted are spoiled. They have slept their sleep, and all the men of strength have not found their hands.

At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast dead asleep.

You. You are to be feared. And who shall stand in Your sight when You are angry!

You caused judgment to be heard from Heaven. The Earth feared, and was still,

when You, O God, rose to judgment to help all the meek of the Earth. Selah.

10 Surely, the rage of man shall turn to Your praise; the remnant of the rage You shall restrain.

11 Vow and perform to the LORD your God, all you who surround Him; let them bring presents to Him Who ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes; he is feared by the kings of the Earth. For the excellent musician, Jeduthun: A Psalm committed to Asaph

Isaiah 66:1-13

66 Thus says the LORD: “The heaven is My throne, and the Earth is My footstool. Where is that House that you would build Me? And where is that place of My rest?

“For all these things has My Hand made. And all these things have been,” says the LORD, “And to him will I look, to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at My words.

“He who kills an ox is as if he killed a man, he who sacrifices a sheep as if he broke a dog’s neck, he who offers an oblation as if he offered swine’s blood, he who remembers incense as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways and their soul delights in their abominations.

“Therefore, I will choose their delusions and I will bring their fear upon them. Because I called, and no one would answer. I speak, and they would not hear. But they did evil in My sight and chose the things which I would not.”

“Hear the Word of the LORD, all you who tremble at His Word. “Your brothers who hated you, and cast you out for My Name’s sake, said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified.’ But He shall appear to your joy. And they shall be ashamed.”

A Voice sounds from the city, a Voice from the Temple, the Voice of the LORD, Who recompenses His enemies fully.

“Before she labored, she brought forth. And before her pain came, she delivered a male child.

“Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the Earth be brought forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion labored, she brought forth her children.

“Shall I cause to labor and not bring forth? Shall I cause to bring forth and not deliver?” says the LORD.

10 “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her,

11 “So that you may nurse and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolation. So that you may drink deeply and be delighted with the brightness of her glory.”

12 For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will extend peace over her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then shall you suck. You shall be born upon her sides and be joyful upon her knees.

13 “As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you. And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”

1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not profitable. All things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.

24 Let no one seek his own, but everyone another’s wealth.

25 Whatever is sold in the meat market, eat, and ask no question for conscience’ sake.

26 For the Earth is the Lord’s, and all that therein is.

27 If any unbelievers call you to a feast, and you are willing to go, whatever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience’ sake.

28 But if anyone says to you, ‘This is sacrificed to idols’, do not eat it, because of him who showed it, and for conscience’ sake (for the Earth is the Lord’s, and all that therein is),

29 and the conscience, I say, not of your own, but of the other. For why should my freedom be judged by another man’s conscience?

30 For if I, with gratitude, be a partaker, why am I maligned for that which I give thanks?

31 Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Greeks, nor to the Church of God.

33 Just as I please all mankind in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they might be saved.

11 Be followers of me, just as I am of Christ.
