Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
65 1 A praise and thanksgiving unto God by the faithful, who are signified by Zion, 4 For the choosing, preservation, and governance of them, 9 And for the plentiful blessings poured forth upon all the earth, but especially toward his Church.
To him that excelleth. A Psalm or song of David.
1 O God, [a]praise waiteth for thee in Zion, and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 Because thou hearest the prayer, unto thee shall all [b]flesh come.
3 Wicked deeds [c]have prevailed against me: but thou wilt be merciful unto our transgressions.
4 Blessed is he, whom thou choosest and causest to come to thee: he shall dwell in thy courts, and we shall be satisfied with the pleasures of thine House, even of thine holy Temple.
5 O God of our salvation, thou wilt [d]answer us with fearful signs in thy righteousness, O thou the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are far off in the [e]Sea.
6 He establisheth the mountains by his power: and is girded about with strength.
7 He appeaseth the [f]noise of the seas, and the noise of the waves thereof, and the tumults of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth, shall be afraid of thy signs; thou shalt make [g]the East and the West to rejoice.
9 Thou [h]visitest the earth, and waterest it; thou makest it very rich: the [i]river of God is full of water, thou preparest them corn; for so thou appointest [j]it.
10 Thou [k]waterest abundantly the furrows thereof; thou causest the rain to descend into the valleys thereof; thou makest it soft with showers, and blessest the bud thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness, and thy steps drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the hills shall be compassed with gladness.
13 The pastures are clad with sheep; the valleys also shall be covered with corn; therefore they shout for joy, [l]and sing.
12 Therefore also now the Lord saith, Turn you unto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning,
13 And [a]rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turn unto the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14 Who knoweth, if he will [b]return and repent and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation: gather the elders: assemble the [c]children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her bride chamber.
17 Let the Priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage into reproach, that the heathen should rule over them. (A)Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
18 Then will the Lord be [d]jealous over his land, and spare his people.
19 Yea, the Lord will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn and wine, and oil, and you shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen.
20 But I will remove far off from you the [e]Northern army, and I will drive him into a land, barren and desolate with his face toward the [f]East sea, and his end to the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his corruption shall ascend, because he hath exalted himself to do this.
21 Fear not, O land, but be glad, and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness are green for the tree beareth her fruit: the fig tree and the vine do give their force.
46 [a]Then Mary said, My soul magnifieth the Lord,
47 And my spirit rejoiceth in God my Savior.
48 For he hath [b]looked on the [c]poor degree of his servant: for behold, from henceforth shall all ages call me blessed,
49 Because he that is mighty hath done for me great things, and holy is his Name.
50 And his mercy is from generation to generation on them [d]that fear him.
51 (A)He that showed strength with his [e]arm: (B)he hath [f]scattered the proud in the [g]imagination of their hearts.
52 (C)He hath [h]put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of [i]low degree.
53 (D)He hath filled the [j]hungry with good things, and sent away the rich empty.
54 [k](E)He hath upholden Israel his servant to be mindful of his mercy,
55 ((F)As he hath [l]spoken to our fathers, to wit, to Abraham and his seed) forever.
