Jeremiah 32:1-3

32 Jeremiah is cast into prison because he prophesied that the city should be taken of the king of Babylon. 7 He showeth that the people should come again to their own possession. 38 The people of God are his servants, and he is their Lord.

The word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, in the [a]tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.

For then the king of Babel’s host besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the Prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the King of Judah’s house.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord, (A)Behold, I will give this city into the hands of the King of Babel, and he shall take it?

Jeremiah 32:6-15

¶ And Jeremiah said, The word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Behold, Hanamel, the son of Shallum thine uncle, shall come unto thee and say, [a]Buy unto thee my field, that is in Anathoth: for the [b]title by kindred appertaineth unto thee [c]to buy it.

So Hanamel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison, according to the word of the Lord, and said unto me, Buy my [d]field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of the possession is thine, and the purchase belongeth unto thee: buy it for thee. Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.

And I bought the field of Hanamel, mine uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the silver, even seven [e]shekels, and ten pieces of silver.

10 And I wrote it in the book and signed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the silver in the balances.

11 So I took the book of the possession, being sealed [f]according to the Law, and custom, with the book that was open,

12 And I gave the book of the possession unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the sight of Hanamel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses, written in the book of the possession, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

14 Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, Take the writings, even this book of the possession, both that is sealed, and this book that is open, and put them in an earthen [g]vessel, that they may continue a long time.

15 For the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel saith thus, Houses and fields, and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

Psalm 91:1-6

91 1 Here is described in what assurance he liveth, that putteth his whole trust in God, and commiteth himself wholly to his protection in all temptations. 14 A promise of God to those that love him, know him, and trust in him to deliver them, and give them immortal glory.

Who so dwelleth in the [a]secret of the most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

[b]I will say unto the Lord, O my hope, and my fortress: he is my God, in him will I trust.

Surely I will deliver thee from the [c]snare of the hunter, and from the noisome pestilence.

He will cover thee under his wings, and thou shalt be sure under his feathers: his [d]truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

[e]Thou shalt not be afraid of the fear of the night: nor of the arrow that flieth by day:

Nor of the pestilence that walketh in the darkness: nor of the plague that destroyeth at noon day.

Psalm 91:14-16

14 [a]Because he hath loved me, therefore will I deliver him: I will exalt him because he hath known my Name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will hear him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and glorify him.

16 With [b]long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

1 Timothy 6:6-19

[a]But godliness is great gain, if a man be content with that he hath.

[b]For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certain, that we can carry nothing out.

Therefore when we have food and raiment, let us therewith be content.

[c]For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noisome lusts, which drown men in perdition and destruction.

10 For the desire of money is the root of all evil, which while some lusted after they erred from the faith, and [d]pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 [e]But thou, O [f]man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith: lay hold of eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

13 (A)[g]I charge thee in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Jesus Christ, which under Pontius Pilate (B)witnessed a good confession.

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, and unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Which in due time he shall show, that is (C)[h] blessed and Prince only, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

16 Who only hath immortality, and dwelleth in the light that none can attain unto, (D)whom never man saw, neither can see, unto whom be honor and power everlasting, Amen.

17 [i]Charge them that are rich in [j]this world, that they be not high minded, and that they (E)trust not in uncertain riches, but in the [k]living God, (which giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy.)

18 That they do good, and be rich in good works, and be ready to distribute, and communicate,

19 (F)[l]Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may obtain eternal life.

Luke 16:19-31

19 [a]There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in [b]purple and fine linen, and fared well and delicately every day.

20 Also there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate full of sores,

21 And desired to be refreshed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table: yea, and the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it was so that the beggar died, and was carried by the Angels into Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

23 And being in hell in torments, [c]he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 Then he cried, and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy pleasures, and likewise Lazarus pains: now therefore is he comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 Besides all this, between you and us there is a great gulf set, so that they which would go from hence to you, cannot: neither can they come from thence to us.

27 [d]Then he said, I pray thee therefore father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house,

28 (For I have five brethren) that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham said unto him, They have Moses and the Prophets: let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one came unto them from the dead, they will amend their lives.

31 Then he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead again.
