Psalm 94

94 1 He prayeth unto God against the violence and arrogance of tyrants, 10 warning them of God’s judgments. 12 Then doth he comfort the afflicted by the good issue of their afflictions, as he felt in himself, and did set in others, and by the ruin of the wicked, 23 whom the Lord will destroy.

O Lord God [a]the avenger, O God the avenger, show thyself [b]clearly.

Exalt thyself, O Judge of the world, and render a reward to the proud.

Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked [c]triumph?

They prate and speak fiercely: all the workers of iniquity vaunt themselves.

They [d]smite down thy people, O Lord, and trouble thine heritage.

They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

[e]Yet they say, The Lord shall not see: neither will the God of Jacob regard it.

Understand, ye unwise among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

He that [f]planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

10 Or he that chastiseth the [g]nations, shall he not correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not know?

11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12 Blessed is the man whom thou [h]chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Law,

13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, while the pit is dug for the wicked.

14 Surely the Lord will not fail his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

15 For [i]judgment shall return to justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow after it.

16 Who will rise up with me against the wicked? or who will take my part against the workers of iniquity?

17 If the Lord had not [j]helped me, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

18 When I said, [k]My foot slideth, thy mercy, O Lord, stayed me.

19 In the multitude of my [l]thoughts in mine heart, thy comforts have rejoiced my soul.

20 Hath the throne of iniquity [m]fellowship with thee, which forgeth wrong for a Law?

21 They gather them together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

22 But the Lord is my refuge, and my God is the rock of mine hope.

23 And he will recompense them their wickedness, and [n]destroy them in their own malice, yea, the Lord our God shall destroy them.

Jeremiah 5:18-31

18 Nevertheless, at those days, saith the Lord, I will not make a full end of [a]you.

19 And when (A)ye shall say, Wherefore doth the Lord our God do these things unto us? then shalt [b]thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and [c]without understanding, which have (B)eyes and see not, which have ears and hear not.

22 Fear ye not me, saith the Lord? or will ye not be afraid at my presence, which have placed the sand for the (C)bounds of the sea by the perpetual decree that it cannot pass it, and though the waves thereof rage, yet can they not prevail, though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

23 But this people hath an unfaithful and rebellious heart: they are departed and gone.

24 For they say not in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain both early and late in due season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

25 Yet your [d]iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have hindered good things from you.

26 For among my people are found wicked persons, that lay wait as he that setteth snares: they have made a pit, to catch men.

27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: thereby they are become great and waxen rich.

28 They are waxen fat and shining: they do overpass the deeds of the wicked: (D)they execute no judgment, no not the judgment of the fatherless: yet they [e]prosper, though they execute no judgment for the poor.

29 Shall I not visit for these things, saith the Lord? or shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

30 An horrible and filthy thing is committed in the land.

31 The [f]prophets prophesy lies, and the priests [g]receive gifts in their hands, and my people delight therein. What will ye then do in the end thereof?

2 Peter 3:8-13

[a]Dearly beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord, (A)as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

[b]The Lord of that promise is not slack (as some men count slackness) [c]but is patient toward us, and (B)would have no man to perish, but would all men to come to repentance.

10 [d]But the day (C)of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a [e]noise, and the elements shall melt with heat, and the earth with the works that are therein shall be burnt up.

11 [f]Seeing therefore that all these things must be dissolved, what manner persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for, and [g]hasting unto the coming of that day of God, by the which the heavens being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with heat?

13 But we look for (D)new heavens, and a new earth, according to his promise, [h]wherein dwelleth righteousness.
