Psalm 139:1-6

139 1 David cleanseth his heart from all hypocrisy, showeth that there is nothing so hid, which God seeth not. 13 Which he confirmeth by the creation of man. 14 After declaring his zeal and fear of God, he professeth to be enemy to all them that contemn God.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David.

O Lord, thou hast tried me, and known me.

Thou knowest my [a]sitting and my rising: thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou [b]compassest my paths, and my lying down, and art accustomed to all my ways.

For there is not a word in my [c]tongue, but lo, thou knowest it wholly, O Lord.

Thou holdest me strait behind and before, and layest thine [d]hand upon me.

Thy knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is so high that I cannot attain unto it.

Psalm 139:13-18

13 For thou hast [a]possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee, for I am [b]fearfully and wondrously made: marvelous are thy works, and my soul knoweth it well.

15 My bones are not hid from thee, though I was made in a secret place, and fashioned [c]beneath in the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see me, when I was without form: [d]for in thy book were all things written, which in continuance were fashioned, when there was none of them before.

17 How [e]dear therefore are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more than the sand: when I awake, [f]I am still with thee.

Jeremiah 17:14-27

14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be whole: [a]save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

15 Behold, [b]they say unto me, Where is the word of the Lord? let it come now.

16 But [c]I have not thrust in myself for a pastor after thee, neither have I desired the day of misery, thou knowest that which came out of my lips was right before thee.

17 Be not [d]terrible unto me: thou art mine hope in the day of adversity.

18 Let them be confounded, that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be afraid, but let not me be afraid: bring upon them the day of adversity, [e]and, destroy them with double destruction.

19 Thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go and stand in the [f]gate of the children of the people, whereby the Kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem,

20 And say unto them, Hear the word of the Lord, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates.

21 Thus saith the Lord, Take heed to your souls, and bear no burden in the [g]Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.

22 Neither carry forth burdens out of your houses in the Sabbath day: neither do ye any work, but sanctify the Sabbath, as I commanded your fathers.

23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ears, but made their necks stiff, and would not hear, nor receive correction.

24 Nevertheless, if ye will hear me, saith the Lord, and bear no burden through the gates of the city in the Sabbath day, but sanctify the Sabbath day, so that ye do no work therein,

25 Then shall the Kings and the Princes enter in at the gates of this city, and shall sit (A)upon the throne of David, and shall ride upon chariots and upon horses, both they and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain forever.

26 And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the South, which shall bring burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and shall bring sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.

27 But if ye will not hear me to sanctify the Sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, nor to go through the gates of Jerusalem in the Sabbath day, then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

Matthew 10:34-42

34 (A)[a]Think not that I am come to send peace into the earth, but the sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 (B)And a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household.

37 (C)[b]He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me. And he that loveth son, or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

38 (D)And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39 (E)He that will find [c]his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.

40 [d]He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.

41 (F)[e]He that receiveth a Prophet in [f]the name of a Prophet, shall receive a Prophet’s reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man, in the name of a righteous man, shall receive the reward of a righteous man.

42 (G)And whosoever shall give unto one of these [g]little ones to drink a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
