75 Unto the end, in praises, a psalm for Asaph: a canticle to the Assyrians.

² In Judea God is known: his name is great in Israel.

³ And his place is in peace: and his abode in Sion:

⁴ There hath he broken the powers of bows, the shield, the sword, and the battie.

⁵ Thou enlightenest wonderfully from the everlasting hills.

⁶ All the foolish of heart were troubled. They have slept their sleep; and all the men of riches have found nothing in their hands.

⁷ At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, they have all slumbered that mounted on horseback.

⁸ Thou art terrible, and who shall resist thee? from that time thy wrath.

⁹ Thou hast caused judgment to be heard from heaven: the earth trembled and was still,

¹⁰ When God arose in judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.

¹¹ For the thought of man shall give praise to thee: and the remainders of the thought shall keep holiday to thee.

¹² Vow ye, and pay to the Lord your God: all you that are round about him bring presents. To him that is terrible,

¹³ Even to him who taketh away the spirit of princes: to the terrible with the kings of the earth.

4 Now a certain woman of the wives of the prophets cried to Eliseus, saying: Thy servant my husband is dead, and thou knowest that thy servant was one that feared God, and behold the creditor is come to take away my two sons to serve him.

² And Eliseus said to her: What wilt thou have me to do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in thy house? And she answered: I thy handmaid have nothing in my house but a little oil, to anoint me.

³ And he said to her: Go, borrow of all thy neighbours empty vessels not a few.

⁴ And go in, and shut thy door, when thou art within, and thy sons: and pour out thereof into all those vessels: and when they are full take them away.

⁵ So the woman went, and shut the door upon her, and upon her sons: they brought her the vessels, and she poured in.

⁶ And when the vessels were full, she said to her son: Bring me yet a vessel. And he answered: I have no more. And the oil stood.

⁷ And she came, and told the man of God. And he said: Go, sell the oil, and pay thy creditor: and thou and thy sons live of the rest.

¹⁶ Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves.

¹⁷ But beware of men. For they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.

¹⁸ And you shall be brought before governors, and before kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles:

¹⁹ But when they shall deliver you up, take no thought how or what to speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak.

²⁰ For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.

²¹ The brother also shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the son: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and shall put them to death.

²² And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.

²³ And when they shall persecute you in this city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.

²⁴ The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above his lord.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the goodman of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?
