Psalm 42

42 1 The Prophet grievously complaineth, that being letted by his persecutors, he could not be present in the congregation of God’s people, protesting that although he was separated in body from them, yet his heart was thitherward affectioned. 7 And least of all he showed that he was not so far overcome with these sorrows and thoughts, 8 but that he continually put his confidence in the Lord.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm to give instruction, [a]committed to the sons of Korah.

As the Hart brayeth for the rivers of water, so [b]panted my soul after thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, even for the living God: when shall I come and appear before the presence of God?

[c]Mine tears have been my meat day and night, while they daily say unto me, Where is thy God?

When I remembered [d]these things, I poured out my very heart, because I had gone with the multitude, and led them into the house of God with the voice of singing, and praise, as a multitude that keepeth a feast.

Why art thou cast down, my soul, and unquiet within me? [e]wait on God: for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his presence.

My God, my soul is cast down within me, [f]because I remembered thee, from the land of Jordan, and Hermon, and from the mount Mizar.

One [g]deep calleth another deep by the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy floods are gone over me.

The Lord [h]will grant his loving-kindness in the day, and in the night shall I sing of him, even a prayer unto the God of my life.

I will say unto God, which is my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning, when the enemy oppresseth me?

10 My [i]bones are cut asunder, while mine enemies reproach me, saying daily unto me, Where is thy God?

11 [j]Why art thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? wait on God: for I will yet give him thanks: he is my present help and my God.

Psalm 43

43 1 He prayeth to be delivered from them that conspire against him, that he might joyfully praise God in his holy congregation.

Judge [a]me, O God, and defend my cause against the unmerciful [b]people: deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.

For thou art the God of my strength: why hast thou put me away? why go I so mourning, when the enemy oppressed me?

Send thy [c]light and thy truth: let them lead me: let them bring me unto thine holy Mountain, and to thy Tabernacles.

Then [d]will I go unto the altar of God, even unto the God of my joy and gladness: and upon the harp will I give thanks unto thee, O God my God.

Why art thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me: [e]wait on God: for I will yet give him thanks, he is my present help and my God.

Job 6:14-29

14 He that is in misery, ought to be comforted of his neighbor: but men have forsaken the fear of the Almighty.

15 My brethren have deceived me as a [a]brook, and as the rising of the rivers they pass away.

16 Which are blackish with ice, and wherein the snow is hid.

17 But in time they are dried up with heat and are consumed: and when it is hot they fail out of their places,

18 Or they depart from their way and course, yea, they vanish and perish.

19 They that go to Tema, [b]considered them, and they that go to Sheba, waited for them.

20 But they were confounded: when they hoped, they came thither, and were ashamed.

21 Surely now are ye like [c]unto it: ye have seen my fearful plague, and are afraid.

22 Was it because I said, Bring unto me? or give a reward to me of your [d]substance?

23 And deliver me from the enemy’s hand, or ransom me out of the hand of tyrants?

24 Teach me, and I will [e]hold my tongue: and cause me to understand, wherein I have erred.

25 How [f]steadfast are the words of righteousness? and what can any of you justly reprove?

26 Do ye imagine to reprove [g]words, that the talk of the afflicted should be as the wind?

27 Ye make your wrath to fall upon the fatherless, and dig a pit for your friend.

28 Now therefore be content to [h]look upon me: for I will not lie before your face.

29 Turn, I pray you, let there be none iniquity: return, I say, and ye shall see yet my righteousness in that behalf. Is there iniquity in my tongue? doth not my mouth feel sorrows?

Galatians 3:15-22

15 [a]Brethren, I speak as [b]men do: (A)though it be but a man’s covenant, when it is [c]confirmed, yet no man doth abrogate it, or addeth anything thereto,

16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, and to the seeds, as speaking of many: but, And to thy seed, as of one, [d]which is [e]Christ.

17 [f]And this I say, that the covenant that was confirmed afore of God [g]in respect of Christ, the [h]Law which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

18 [i]For if the [j]inheritance be of the Law, it is no more by the promise, but God gave it freely unto Abraham by promise.

19 [k]Wherefore then serveth the Law? It was added because of the [l]transgressions, [m]till the seed came, unto the which the promise was made: [n]and it was [o]ordained by [p]Angels in the hand of a Mediator.

20 Now a Mediator is not a Mediator of one: [q]but God is one.

21 [r]Is the Law then against the promises of God? God forbid: For if there had been a Law given which could have given life, surely righteousness should have been by the Law.

22 But the [s]Scripture hath (B)concluded [t]all under sin, that the [u]promise by the faith of Jesus Christ should be given to them that believe.
