Psalm 31:9-16

Be gracious to me, Lord,
    for I am in distress.
My eyes have been consumed by my grief
    along with my soul and my body.
10 My life is consumed by sorrow,
    my years with groaning.
My strength has faltered because of my iniquity;[a]
    my bones have been consumed.

11 I have become an object of reproach to all my enemies,
    especially to my neighbors.
I have become an object of fear to my friends,
    and whoever sees me outside runs away from me.
12 Like a dead man, I am forgotten in their thoughts[b]
    like broken pottery.
13 I have heard the slander of many;
    it is like terror all around me,
        as they conspire together and plot to take my life.

14 But I trust in you, Lord.
    I say, “You are my God.”
15 My times are in your hands.
    Deliver me from the hands of my enemies
        and from those who pursue me.
16 May your face shine on your servant;
    in your gracious love, deliver me.

Leviticus 23:1-8

Scheduled Festivals

23 The Lord told Moses, “Tell the Israelis that these are my festival times appointed by the Lord[a] that you are to declare as sacred assemblies: Six days you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work. It’s a Sabbath to the Lord wherever you live.[b] These are the Lord’s appointed festivals and sacred assemblies that you are to declare at their appointed time.

“The Lord’s Passover is to begin on the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight.[c] On the fifteenth day of that month is the Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord. For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread. On the first day that you hold the sacred assembly, you are to do no servile work. Instead, you are to bring an offering made by fire to the Lord daily for seven days. On the seventh day, you are also to hold a sacred assembly during which you are to do no servile work.”

Luke 22:1-13

The Plot to Kill Jesus(A)

22 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was near. So the high priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put him to death, because they were afraid of the crowd.

But Satan went into Judas called Iscariot, who belonged to the circle[a] of the Twelve. So he went off and discussed with the high priests and the Temple police how he could betray Jesus[b] to them. They were delighted, and agreed to give him money. Judas[c] accepted their offer and began to look for a good opportunity to betray Jesus[d] to them when no crowd was present.

The Passover with the Disciples(B)

Then the day of the Festival[e] of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed. So Jesus[f] sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover meal.”

They asked him, “Where do you want us to prepare it?”

10 He told them, “Just after you go into the city, a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks you, “Where is the room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?”’ 12 Then he will show you a large upstairs room that is furnished. Get things ready for us there.” 13 So they went and found everything just as Jesus[g] had told them, and they prepared the Passover meal.
