⁹ Do not become like the horse and the mule, who have no understanding. With bit and bridle bind fast their jaws, who come not near unto thee.

¹⁰ Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encompass him that hopeth in the Lord.

¹¹ Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye just, and glory, all ye right of heart.

23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

² Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: These are the feasts of the Lord, which you shall call holy.

³ Six days shall ye do work: the seventh day, because it is the rest of the sabbath, shall be called holy. You shall do no work on that day: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your habitations.

⁴ These also are the holy days of the Lord, which you must celebrate in their seasons.

⁵ The first month, the fourteenth day of the month at evening, is the phase of the Lord:

⁶ And the fifteenth day of the same month is the solemnity of the unleavened bread of the Lord. Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread.

⁷ The first day shall be most solemn unto you, and holy: you shall do no servile work therein:

⁸ But you shall offer sacrifice in fire to the Lord seven days. And the seventh day shall be more solemn, and more holy: and you shall do no servile work therein.

22 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the pasch, was at hand.

² And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put Jesus to death: but they feared the people.

³ And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve.

⁴ And he went, and discoursed with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray him to them.

⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

⁶ And he promised. And he sought opportunity to betray him in the absence of the multitude.

⁷ And the day of the unleavened bread came, on which it was necessary that the pasch should be killed.

⁸ And he sent Peter and John, saying: Go, and prepare for us the pasch, that we may eat.

⁹ But they said: Where wilt thou that we prepare?

¹⁰ And he said to them: Behold, as you go into the city, there shall meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water: follow him into the house where he entereth in.

¹¹ And you shall say to the goodman of the house: The master saith to thee, Where is the guest chamber, where I may eat the pasch with my disciples?

¹² And he will shew you a large dining room, furnished; and there prepare.

¹³ And they going, found as he had said to them, and made ready the pasch.
