Psalm 36:5-10

Praise to the Lord

Your gracious love, Lord, reaches to the heavens;
    your truth[a] extends to the skies.[b]
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
    your justice is like the great depths of the sea.[c]
        You deliver both[d] people and animals, Lord.
How precious is your gracious love, God!
    The children of men take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They are refreshed from the abundance of your house;
    You cause them to drink from the river of your pleasures.
For with you is a fountain of life,
    and in your light we will see light.

10 Send forth your gracious love to those who know you,
    and your righteousness to those who are upright in heart.

Jeremiah 4:1-4

Instructions for True Repentance

“Israel, if you return to me,”
declares the Lord,
“Return to me,
    remove your detestable idols from my presence,
        and don’t waver.
If you swear, ‘as surely as the Lord lives,’
    in truth, in justice, and in righteousness,
then nations will be blessed[a] by him,
    and in him they will boast.”
For this is what the Lord says
    to the men[b] of Judah and Jerusalem,
“Break up your unplowed ground,
    and don’t sow among thorns.
Circumcise yourselves to the Lord
    and remove the foreskin of your heart,
you men of Judah and residents of Jerusalem,
    or else my wrath will break out like fire
and burn with no one to put it out,
    because of your evil deeds.”

Luke 11:14-23

Jesus is Accused of Working with Beelzebul(A)

14 Jesus[a] was driving a demon out of a man who was[b] unable to talk. When the demon had gone out, the man[c] began to speak, and the crowds were amazed. 15 But some of them said, “He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.” 16 Others, wanting to test Jesus,[d] kept asking him for a sign from heaven.

17 Since he knew what they were thinking, he told them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is devastated, and a divided household collapses.[e] 18 Now, if Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom last? After all, you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. 19 If I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own followers[f] drive them out? That is why they will be your judges! 20 But if I drive out demons by the power[g] of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

21 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own mansion, his property is safe. 22 But when a stronger man than he attacks and defeats him, the stronger man[h] strips off that man’s armor in which he trusted and then divides his plunder.

23 “The person who isn’t with me is against me, and the person who doesn’t gather with me scatters.”
