Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
72 Give Your judgments to the King, O God, and Your righteousness to the King’s Son.
2 He shall judge Your people in righteousness, and Your poor with equity.
3 The mountains and the hills shall bring peace to the people by justice.
4 He shall judge the poor of the people. He shall save the children of the needy and shall subdue the oppressor.
5 They shall fear You as long as the Sun and Moon endure, from generation to generation.
6 He shall come down like the rain upon the mown grass, as the showers that water the Earth.
7 In His days shall the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace shall be so long as the Moon endures.
8 Also, His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the land.
9 Those who dwell in the wilderness shall kneel before Him; and His enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish, and of the isles, shall bring presents. The kings of Sheba, and Seba, shall bring gifts.
11 Indeed, all kings shall worship Him. All nations shall serve Him.
12 For He shall deliver the poor when He cries, the needy also, and he who has no helper.
13 He shall be merciful to the poor and needy and shall preserve the souls of the poor.
14 He shall redeem their souls from deceit and violence, and their blood shall be dear in His sight.
15 Indeed, He shall live; and to Him shall they give of the gold of Sheba. Also, they shall pray for Him continually and daily bless Him.
16 A handful of grain shall be sown in the Earth, in the top of the mountains. The fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon; and the children out of the city shall flourish like the grass of the Earth.
17 His name shall be forever. His name shall endure as long as the Sun. All nations shall bless Him and be blessed in Him.
18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things.
19 And blessed be His glorious Name forever. And let all the Earth be filled with His Glory. So be it, even so be it.
20 Here ends the prayers of David, the son of Jesse. A Psalm committed to Asaph
2 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams which troubled his spirit, and broke his sleep.
2 Then the king commanded to call the enchanters, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to interpret the king’s dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3 And the king said to them, “I have dreamed a dream. And my spirit was troubled to know the dream.”
4 Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in the Aramite’s language, “O king, live forever. Show your servants your dream, and we shall show the interpretation.”
5 And the king answered and said to the Chaldeans, “The thing is spoken. If you will not make me understand the dream, with the interpretation thereof, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap.
6 “But, if you declare the dream and the interpretation thereof, you shall receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. Therefore, show me the dream and the interpretation of it.”
7 They answered again, and said, “Let the king show his servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation thereof.”
8 Then the king answered, and said, “I know certainly that you would like more time, because you see the thing is spoken.
9 “But if you will not declare to me the dream, there is but one judgment for you. For you have prepared lying and corrupt words, to speak before me till the time changes. Therefore, tell me the dream, that I may know if you can declare to me the interpretation thereof.”
10 Then the Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is no man upon earth who can declare the king’s matter. Yea, there is neither king nor prince nor lord who asked such things of an enchanter, or astrologer, or Chaldean.
11 For it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other who can declare it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”
12 For this reason, the king was angry and in a great fury, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel.
13 And when sentence was given, the wise men were killed. And they sought Daniel and his friends, to be put to death.
14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch, the king’s chief steward, who had gone forth to put to death the wise men of Babel.
15 “Yea,” he answered and said to Arioch, the king’s captain, “Why is the sentence so severe from the king?” Then Arioch explained it to Daniel.
16 So Daniel went and asked the king if he would give him time to show the king the interpretation thereof.
17 Then Daniel went to his house and shared the matter with Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,
18 in order that they should ask the God of heaven for grace in this secret, so that Daniel and his friends should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babel.
19 Then was the secret revealed to Daniel in a vision by night. Therefore, Daniel praised the God of heaven.
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord: that you henceforth do not walk as other Gentiles walk (in the frivolity of their mind,
18 having their understanding darkened, and being strangers to the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart);
19 who, having grown numb to all feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness for the working of uncleanness with all greediness.
20 But, you have not so learned Christ,
21 if indeed you have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, just as truth is in Jesus.
22 As for your past life, you are to cast off the old man who is being corrupted through deceitful desires,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
24 And put on the new man, who has been created according to God for righteousness and true holiness.
25 Therefore, having laid aside lying, everyone speak truth to his neighbor. For we are members one of another.
26 Be angry, but do not sin. Do not let the Sun go down upon your irritation,
27 nor give place to the devil.
28 Let him who stole, steal no more. But rather, let him labor and work with his hands that which is good, so that he may have something to give to those in need.
29 Let no worthless word proceed out of your mouth, but only if it is good for edification, so that it may give grace to those who hear.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in Whom you are sealed for the Day of Redemption.
31 Let all bitterness and fury and anger, clamor and slander, be taken from you, along with all wickedness.
32 Be kind one to another, and tender-hearted, freely forgiving one another; even as God, for Christ’s sake, freely forgave you.
5 Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children.
