Psalm 3

David driven forth of his kingdom, was greatly tormented in mind for his sins against God:  4 And therefore calleth upon God, and waxeth bold through his promises, against the great railings and terrors of his enemies, yea against death itself, which he saw present before his eyes. 7 Finally, he rejoiceth for the good success that God gave him and all the Church.

A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.

Lord, how are mine adversaries [a]increased? how many rise against me?

Many say to my soul, There is no help for him in God. [b]Selah.

But thou Lord art a buckler for me, my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I did call unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy mountain. Selah.

I laid me down and slept, and rose up again: for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid for [c]ten thousand of the people, that should beset me round about.

O Lord, arise: help me, my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone: thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked.

[d]Salvation belongeth unto the Lord, and thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

1 Samuel 3:19-4:2

19 ¶ And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and let none of his words [a]fall to the ground.

20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew [b]that faithful Samuel was the Lord’s Prophet.

21 And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh: for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by [c]his word.

1 Israel is overcome by the Philistines. 4 They do set the Ark, wherefore the Philistines do fear. 10 The Ark of the Lord is taken. 11 Eli and his children die. 19 The death of the wife of Phinehas the son of Eli.

And Samuel spake unto all Israel: [d]and Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside [e]Ebenezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined the battle, Israel was smitten down before the Philistines: who slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

Hebrews 10:26-31

26 (A)For if we sin [a]willingly after that we have received and acknowledged that truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a fearful looking for of judgment, and violent fire, which shall devour the [b]adversaries.

28 [c]He that despiseth Moses’ Law, dieth without mercy (B)under two, or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment suppose ye shall he be worthy, which treadeth under foot the Son of God, and counteth the blood of the Testament as an unholy thing, wherewith he was sanctified, and doeth despite the Spirit of grace?

30 [d]For we know him that hath said, (C)Vengeance belongeth unto me: I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall [e]judge his people.

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
