Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
3 Afterward, Naomi, her mother-in-law, said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you; so that you may prosper?
2 “Now, is Boaz (with whose maids you were) not also our kinsman? Behold, he winnows barley tonight in the floor.
3 “Therefore, wash yourself and anoint yourself and put your clothes on and get down to the floor. Do not let the man know of you until he has finished eating and drinking.
4 “And when he falls asleep, mark the place where he lays down; and go and uncover the place of his feet and lay down there. And he shall tell you what you shall do.”
5 And she answered her, “All that you ask of me, I will do.”
13 So Boaz took Ruth; and she was his wife. And when he went into her, the LORD gave, so that she conceived and bore a son.
14 And the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, Who has not left you without a kinsman today. And His name shall be continued in Israel.
15 And this shall restore your life and nourish your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you, has borne him. And she is better to you than seven sons.”
16 And Naomi took the child and laid it in her lap and became nurse to it.
17 And the women, her neighbors, gave it a name, saying, “There is a child born to Naomi.” And they called his name “Obed”. The same was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
127 Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD keeps the city, the keeper watches in vain.
2 It is in vain for you to rise early, to lie down late, and eat the bread of sorrow; but He will surely give rest to His beloved.
3 Behold, children are the inheritance of the LORD, the fruit of the womb His reward.
4 As the arrows in the hand of the strong man are the children of youth.
5 Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate. A song of degrees
24 For Christ has not entered into the Holy Places that are made with hands - which are representations of the true things - but into Heaven itself, to appear now in the sight of God for us.
25 Not that He should offer himself often, as the High Priest entered into the Holy Place every year with others’ blood.
26 For then He would have had to suffer often, since the foundation of the world. But now, in the end of the world, He has appeared once, to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
27 And as much as it has been appointed to man that he shall die once (and after that comes the Judgment),
28 so Christ was once offered to take away the sins of many. And to those who look for Him, He shall appear a second time - without sin - for salvation.
38 Moreover He said to them in His doctrine, “Beware of the scribes, who love to go around in long robes and love greetings in the markets,
39 “and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the first rooms at feasts.
40 “They devour widows’ houses, even under a color of long prayers. These shall receive the greater damnation.”
41 And as Jesus sat near the treasury, He saw how much money the people cast into the treasury. And many of the rich men cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow. And she threw in two lepta (which make a kodrantes).
43 Then He called His disciples to Him, and said to them, “Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast more in than all those who have cast into the treasury.
44 “For they all cast in out of their excess. But she, out of her poverty, cast in all that she had, even all her living.”
