42 6 The repentance of Job. 9 He prayeth for his friends. 12 His goods are restored double unto him. 13 His children, age and death.
1 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
2 I know that thou canst do all things, and that there is no [a]thought hid from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth counsel without [b]knowledge? therefore have I spoken that I understood not, even things too wonderful for me, [c]and which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, [d]and declare thou unto me.
5 I have [e]heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee.
6 Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
10 ¶ Then the Lord turned the [a]captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice so much as he had before.
11 Then came unto him all his [b]brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house, and had compassion on him, and comforted him for all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him, and every man gave him a [c]piece of money, and everyone an earring of gold.
12 So the Lord blessed the last days of Job more than the first: for he had [d]fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13 He had also seven sons, and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of one [e]Jemimah, and the name of the second [f]Keziah, and the name of the third [g]Keren-Happuch.
15 In all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job, and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16 And after this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his son’s sons, even four generations.
17 So Job died, being old, and full of days.
34 1 After David had escaped Achish, according as it is written in 1 Sam. 2:11, whom in this title he calleth Abimelech (which was a general name to all the Kings of the Philistines) he praiseth God for his deliverance, 3 provoking all others by his example to trust in God, to fear and serve him, 7 who defendeth the godly with his Angels, 16 and utterly destroyeth the wicked in their sins.
A Psalm of David, when he changeth his behavior before Abimelech, who drave him away, and he departed.
1 I will [a]always give thanks unto the Lord: his praise shall be in my mouth continually.
2 My soul shall glory in the Lord: the [b]humble shall hear it and be glad.
3 Praise ye the Lord with me, and let us magnify his Name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he delivered me out of all my [c]fear.
5 They [d]shall look unto him, and run to him: and their faces shall not be ashamed, saying,
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The [e]Angel of the Lord pitched round about them, that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 Taste ye and see, how gracious the Lord is: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
19 Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 [a]He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 But malice shall slay the [b]wicked: and they that hate the righteous, shall perish.
22 The Lord [c]redeemeth the souls of his servants: and none that trust in him, shall perish.
23 [a]And among them many were made Priests, because they were not suffered to endure, by the reason of death.
24 But this man, because he endureth ever, hath a Priesthood, which [b]cannot pass from one to another.
25 Wherefore, he is [c]able also perfectly to save them that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth, to make intercession for them.
26 [d]For such an high Priest it became us to have, which is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:
27 Which needeth not daily as those high Priests to offer up sacrifice, (A)first for his own sins, and then for the peoples: [e]for [f]that did he [g]once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the Law maketh men high Priests, which have infirmity: but the [h]word of the oath [i]that [j]was since the Law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
46 ¶ (A)[a]Then they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples, and a great multitude, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind man, sat by the wayside, begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry, and to say, Jesus the Son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many rebuked him, because he should hold his peace: but he cried much more, O Son of David, have mercy on me.
49 Then Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called: and they called the blind, saying unto him, Be of good comfort: arise, he calleth thee.
50 So he threw away his cloak, and rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered, and said unto him, What wilt thou that I do unto thee? And the blind said unto him, Lord, that I may receive sight.
52 Then Jesus said unto him, Go thy way: thy faith hath saved thee. And by and by he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
