Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
26 Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my innocence. My trust has also been in the LORD. Therefore, I shall not slide.
2 Test me, O LORD, and try me. Examine my core and my heart.
3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes. Therefore, I have walked in Your truth.
4 I have not dwelt with frivolous people, nor kept company with the deceitful.
5 I have hated the assembly of the evil and have not kept company with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence, O LORD, and surround Your altar.
7 So that I may declare with the voice of thanksgiving and set forth all Your wondrous works.
8 O LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your honor dwells.
9 Do not gather my soul with the sinners, nor my life with the bloody men,
10 in whose hands are wickedness, and their right hands are full of bribes.
11 But I will walk in my innocence. Redeem me and be merciful to me.
12 My foot stands in uprightness. I will praise You, O LORD, in the Congregations. A Psalm of David.
4 Then Eliphaz, the Temanite, answered and said,
2 “If we try to commune with you, will you grow weary? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
3 “Behold, you have taught many, and have strengthened weary hands.
4 “Your words have upheld him who was falling. And you have strengthened weak knees.
5 “But now it has come upon you, and you grow weary. It touches you, and you are troubled.
6 “Is not this your fear, your confidence, your patience and uprightness of your ways?
7 “Please remember, whoever perished being innocent? Or where were the upright destroyed?
8 “As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow wickedness reap the same.
9 “With the blast of God they perish. And with the breath of His Nostrils are they consumed.
10 “The roaring of the Lion, and the voice of the Lioness, and the teeth of the Lion’s whelps are broken.
11 “The Lion perishes for lack of prey. And the Lion’s whelps are scattered.
12 “But a thing was brought to me secretly. And my ear has received a little of it.
13 “In the thoughts of the visions of the night, when sleep falls on men,
14 “fear came upon me, and dread, which made all my bones tremble.
15 “And the wind passed before me, and made the hairs of my flesh stand up.
16 “Then, one stood. And I did not know his face, an image before my eyes. In silence, I heard a voice,
17 “‘Shall man be more just than God? Or shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
18 ‘Behold, he found no steadfastness in his servants, and laid folly upon his angels.
19 ‘How much more in those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which shall be destroyed before the moth?
20 ‘They are destroyed from the morning to the evening. They perish forever, without regard.
21 ‘Does not their excellence go away with them? Do they not die without wisdom?’”
8 Now, then, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the Law of the Spirit of life, Who is in Christ Jesus, has freed me from the Law of sin and of death.
3 For what the Law could not do (since it was weak because of the flesh) God did; having sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh,
4 that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us; who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For those who are after the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6 For the wisdom of the flesh is death. But the wisdom of the Spirit is life and peace.
7 Because the wisdom of the flesh is hostility toward God. For it is not subject to the Law of God, nor indeed can it be.
8 So, then, those who are in the flesh, cannot please God.
9 Now, you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Because the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, the same is not His.
10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin. But the Spirit is life, for righteousness’ sake.
11 But if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised up Christ from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies by His Spirit, Who dwells in you.
