Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her. And he shall have no need of plunder.
12 She will do him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and linen, and labors cheerfully with her hands.
14 She is like the ships of merchants. She brings her food from afar.
15 And she rises while it is still night; and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maids.
16 She considers a field and acquires it. With the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.
18 She feels that her merchandise is good. Her candle is not put out at night.
19 She puts her hands to the wheel, and her hands handle the spindle.
20 She stretches out her hand to the poor, and puts forth her hands to the needy.
21 She does not fear the snow for her family. For all her family is clothed with crimson.
22 She makes herself carpets. Fine linen and purple are her garments.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits with the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them; and delivers belts to the merchant.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing. And in the coming days she shall rejoice.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom. And the law of grace is in her tongue.
27 She oversees the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also. He praises her, saying,
29 “Many daughters have done virtuously. But you exceed them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful; and beauty but a vapor. But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands. And let her own works praise her in the gates.
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.
3 For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.
4 The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.
13 Who is wise among you and endowed with knowledge? Let him show the good behavior of his works in the gentleness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast. And do not be liars against the truth.
15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
16 For where there is envying and strife, there is upheaval, and all kinds of evil works.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
4 From where are wars and contentions among you? Do they not come from your sensual pleasures, which fight in your members?
2 You lust, and do not have. You envy and desire immoderately and cannot obtain. You fight and war and get nothing, because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive because you ask amiss, so that you might spend it on your pleasures.
7 Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. And purge your hearts, you double-minded.
30 And they left there and went together through Galilee. And He would not allow them to tell anyone.
31 For He taught His disciples, and said to them, “The Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him. But after He is killed, He shall rise again the third day.”
32 But they did not understand that saying and were afraid to ask Him.
33 After that, He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house, He asked them, “What were you disputing among you on the way?”
34 And they kept silent. For along the way they had debated who should be first among them.
35 And He sat down and called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant to all.”
36 And He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And He took him in His arms and said to them,
37 “Whoever shall receive one of these little children in My Name, receives Me. And whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but He Who sent Me.”
