Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

² But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.

³ For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.

⁴ The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.

⁵ Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.

30 The prophecy the warrior spoke to Ithiel - to Ithiel and Ucal:

² Surely, I am more foolish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man in me.

³ For I have not learned wisdom, nor attained to the knowledge of holy things.

⁴ Who has ascended up to Heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fist? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the world? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you can tell?

⁵ Every Word of God is pure. He is a shield to those who trust in Him.

⁶ Add nothing to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

⁷ Two things have I required of you. Do not deny me them before I die.

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with food prescribed to me;

⁹ lest I be full and deny, saying, “Who is the LORD?” or lest I be poor and steal, and manipulate the Name of my God.

¹⁰ Do not accuse a servant to his master, lest he curse you and you are found guilty.

2 And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with excellency of words, or of wisdom, showing to you the testimony of God.

² For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

³ And I was among you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

⁴ Neither my word nor my preaching was in the enticing speech of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

⁵ So that your faith would not be in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.
