Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
21 Certainly, my heart was grieved; and I was pricked in my core.
22 So foolish was I and ignorant! I was a beast before You!
23 Yet, I was always with You. You have held my right hand.
24 You will guide me by Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom do I have in Heaven but You? And, I have desired nothing on the Earth besides You.
26 My flesh fails and my heart also. God is the strength of my heart and my portion, forever.
27 For lo, those who withdraw themselves from You shall perish. You destroy all those who are unfaithful to You.
28 As for me, it is good for me to draw near to God. I have put my trust in the LORD God, so that I may declare all Your works. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph
22 A good name is to be chosen above great riches. And loving favor is above silver and above gold.
2 The rich and poor meet together, the LORD the maker of them all.
3 A prudent man sees the plague and hides himself. But the foolish go on still, and are punished.
4 The reward of humility and the fear of God is riches and glory and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse. But he who guards his soul will depart far from them.
6 Teach a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from it.
7 The rich rules the poor. And the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 He who sows iniquity shall reap affliction. And the rod of his anger shall fail.
9 He who has a generous eye shall be blessed, for he gives his bread to the poor.
10 Cast out the scoffer, and strife shall go out. Indeed, contention and dishonor shall cease.
11 He who loves pureness of heart shall the king befriend, because of the grace of his lips.
12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge. But He overthrows the words of the transgressor.
13 The slothful says, “A lion is outside. I shall be killed in the street.”
14 The mouth of strange women is as a deep pit. He with whom the LORD is angry shall fall therein.
15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child. But the rod of correction shall drive it away from him.
16 He who oppresses the poor for his own gain, giving to the rich, shall surely come to poverty.
17 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge.
18 For it shall be pleasant if you keep them in your core; and if they are set together on your lips.
19 That your confidence may be in the LORD, I have shown you this day. Yes, you.
20 Have I not written to you before in counsels and knowledge,
21 that I might show you the assurance of the words of truth; and to answer words of truth to those who have sent you?
9 What then? Are we more excellent? No, in no way! For we have already proved that all, both Jews and Gentiles, are under sin.
10 As it is written, “There is no one righteous; no, not one.
11 “There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks God.
12 “They have all turned away. They have all been made useless. There is no one that does good; no, not one.
13 “Their throat is an open grave. They use their tongues to deceive. The poison of asps is under their lips;
14 “whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood.
16 “Destruction and misery are in their path;
17 “and the way of peace they have not known.
18 “The fear of God is not before their eyes.”
19 Now, we know that whatever the Law says, it says it to those who are under the Law; so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be subject to the judgment of God.
20 Therefore, no flesh shall be justified in His sight by the works of the Law. For by the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
