Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
To the Overcomer: upon Shoshannim lilies, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.
1 ¶ My heart is overflowing with a good word; I speak of the things which I have done concerning the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
2 Thou art fairer than the sons of men, grace is poured into thy lips; therefore God has blessed thee for ever.
6 ¶ Thy throne, O God, is eternal and for ever, the rod of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
8 All thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made thee glad.
9 Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women; the queen stands at thy right hand with a crown of gold from Ophir.
3 ¶ Then the LORD said unto me again, Go, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the sons of Israel, who look to other gods and love flagons of wine.
2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and an homer and a half of barley:
3 and I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.
4 For the sons of Israel shall abide many days without king and without Lord and without sacrifice and without image, and without ephod and without teraphim;
5 afterward the sons of Israel shall return, and they shall seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the end of the days.
28 ¶ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment, and it was early; and they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the passover.
29 Pilate then went out unto them and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?
30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.
31 Then Pilate said unto them, Take him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death;
32 that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.
